In a neighbourhood that’s filled with hipster and instagrammable cafes, D Flat Cafe (디플랫) looks just like any other cafe from the outside. However, for a cafe to become so popular among locals, especially in a neighbourhood like Seongsu, there’s got be a reason – and one will only find out after stepping inside D Flat.
Alluring Camel-Shade Walls
Most of the interior at D Flat Cafe comes in an alluring camel shade. The walls are also painted in a way where they look slightly weathered, contributing to the overall modern industrial feel. The combination of LED-lit ceilings and the camel shade walls is an interesting one, which makes this place brightly lit even on rainy days.
The interior also presents plenty of lines and shapes that make the place feel more modern.
Another reason why the cafe is so popular among locals is because of the huge tables and power points available. On weekdays, the cafe is relatively quiet and lots of locals bring their laptops here to do some work.
The basement is probably the highlight of the cafe, with the stairs being a popular IG spot for photos as well. You’ll find a portion of the basement brightly lit due to the LED-lit ceiling, while the rest of the cafe is shrouded in comfortable, dim lighting.
Menu at D Flat Cafe Seongsu
One can tell that D Flat Cafe focuses a lot on coffee with their wide range of offerings for their Drip Coffee (7,000won to 9,000won). You can find items like Ethiopia Sidama Bensa Gatta Honey, Guatemala Entre Volcanes, El Salvador Santa Rosa Pacamara and more. They also have decaffeinated options.
For the general consumer, espresso-based drinks include items like Flat White (6,000won), Americano (5,500won), Ice Cream Latte (7,500won) and more. Non-coffee drinkers can indulge in drinks like Apple Yuja Tea (7,000won), Mojito Ade (7,000won) and Coral Smoothie (7,000won).
For dessert, they have a limited selection of cakes such as Black Sesame Roll Cake (7,500won), Green Tea Triangle (7,500won) and Chestnut Tarte (8.500won).
To order, head to the counter and they’ll pass you a buzzer to notify you when your order is ready for collection.
We tried the Sea Salt Caramel Mille Feuille (9,800won) which had a popular combination of sweet and salty flavours. The pastry was not as crispy and flaky as we would have liked, so we might go for something else the next time we visit.
The signature D Flat White (6,500won) was something like a mix between a flat white and a cream coffee, with the beverage topped with decadent cream and some cinnamon powder. It was a smooth and creamy drink that we enjoyed, loved how it was overly sweet as well.
Our cup of Cold Brew (6,500won) was refreshing and well-balanced, with prominent fruity notes.

With so many cafes in Seongsu, is D Flat Cafe still worth a visit? We would say yes, for the architecture and vibes. If you’re an avid coffee drinker or a coffee snob, go for their range of filter coffees.
