Spring in Korea isn’t all about cherry blossoms. The city bursts into different colours with different blooms spread throughout. One particular flower, the Canola, paints the city in a bright shade of yellow and is a beautiful sight to behold.
Canola flowers are one of the highlights of Spring, especially in Jeju. However, if you’re in a rush and can’t venture out to Jeju during spring, do check out Seoraeseom along the Hangang River during late April/early May to catch a glimpse of the Canola blooms.
Hangang Seoraeseom Canola Festival (한강 서래섬 유채꽃축제)
Every year, there’s also a Canola festival that takes place during the first few weeks of May.
There are usually many photo zones and performances going on during the festival. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the festival has been cancelled for 2021.
How to Get To Seoraeseom
The easiest way to get to Seoraeseom is to take the subway to Gubanpo Station (Line 9). From there, you can take Exit 2 and towards the Olympic-daero highway.
You should see some brown coloured street signs that lead you towards Hangang Park. Once you go through a tunnel, you’ll end up at Hangang Park.
The walk there from the subway station should take you around 10 to 15 mins.
