Paya Lebar Quarter (PLQ) is about to have an electrifying new addition to their space with Gamebox! Gamebox is a gamified neon playspace pop-up at PLQ Plaza from now till 6 November 2022 that’s offering a variety of fun things to do, including retro arcade games, live craft booths and live music.
This will be Lendlease’s first and biggest gamified playspace, and you can win over 100,000 Lendlease Plus$ points you can use in their malls like PLQ, Jem and 313@Somserset by playing the games!
Gamebox At PLQ Plaza Activities
The entire PLQ Plaza has been transformed into a bright and exciting space, decked out in neon lights, booths and arcade arenas. There are a total of 7 different sections, as seen in the map here:
There are three game arenas with 10 arcades you can tackle and earn those Lendlease Plus$! Before you can start playing, you’ll need a free Base Pass.
You can redeem one in two ways:
- Shoppers: Spend a minimum of $80 ($60 for Lendlease Plus Members) at PLQ to redeem the Base Pass for five games (2 free games at the Solo and Hyper Arena each, 1 free play at Party Arena) at PLQ Mall Level 4 Concierge.
- Non-Lendlease Members: Visit the Lendlease Plus Booth and receive 10,000 Plus$ and a base pass instantly.
For members of the public just passing by, you can also redeem one free play in the gaming arenas! Spend $20 in a single receipt to join the express queue.
Retro Arcade Games
The lineup of arcade games are split into 3 arenas – Solo, Party and Hyper, each with a few games for solo and group players.
The Solo Arena has Turbo, Timeout, Froggie, and Gone Fishing. To play, you get to play two games and race against the leaderboard. You earn Lendlease Plus$ for completing the objectives specific to each game – for example, hitting 145 points for 1,000 Lendlease points that you can redeem via the Lendlease app!
For teams of two, you can try the Party Arena games of FNAKBALL, Go Kart Go! and Tower Game. These are all new-to-market games that are perfect for a challenge with friends and partners.
Families and large groups can try the Hyper Arena with Drum Mania, Bishi Bashi Channel, and Up and Away to work together and achieve the objectives! The game selections were refreshing and very stylised, making for a unique and memorable gaming experience.
Games Bazaar
Gamebox also has a dedicated area of stalls selling a variety of game-related merchandise and craft workshops! LAYANGMAN, a stall known for their expertise in old-school toys, has a booth dedicated to their handmade wooden guns.
LAYANGMAN will be hosting complimentary wooden gun making workshops for three people, or you can purchase one ready made! Stand a chance to win exciting prizes when you try your hand at their shooting game.
Live Music
Enjoy your games with some live tunes by a lineup of 11 local artists perform from 7pm till late on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. You can expect performances by talents like @AmanderSings, @Fyrdauzmacbeth, @JoieTan and @leejunweimarcus.
Instagram-Worthy Light Installations
If you’re looking for a photo moment to remember the night, drop by the Kaleidoglobes @ PLQ Parkside light installation, featuring a series of coloured spheres arranged along Sims Avenue. There’s also the Prism Portal within the playspace where you can walk through a 6-meter tunnel with neon lights for a dreamy Boomerang or video. The night light and bright colours made for great pictures!
