In this listicle, we’ll introduce 7 ski resorts in Korea. We’ll cover everything from the resort’s location and facilities to the type of terrain and activities.
Skiing In Korea
The best region for skiing in Korea is Gangwon-do, located 2 to 4 hours travel from Seoul.
Seoul doesn’t see much snow, so there aren’t many ski resorts. The nearest area for this is Gyeonggi-do. We recommend two options from here: Jisan Forest Park and Konjiam Resort.
Due to its mountainous terrain, Gangwon-do experiences heavy snowfall. This makes it home to many ski resorts and winter activities, so most of our recommendations are in this region.
All the resorts offer onsite rooms and condos for overnight stays. If you’re not keen on staying for an extended period, day tour options are available!
Ski Resort Near Seoul & Gyeonggi-do
Jisan Resort

Jisan Resort is in Icheon city, Gyeonggi-do. The resort hosts 7 ski slopes, with 2 slopes catering to each level of skiing experience.
Ticket prices vary with timing, ranging from 51,000 won for Dawn (7am-11am) to 72,000 won for Full Day.
Equipment rental rates range from 25,000 won to 30,000 won. The full price list is available on their website.
However, there is little to nothing to do besides skiing and golfing. This resort is suitable for those looking only to ski or for a quick getaway, and is comfortable for beginners.
Jisan Forest Park is inconvenient to access via public transport so we highly recommend booking a tour there instead.

Konjiam Resort
Konjiam Resort is located near Gwangju and is helmed by the same team behind Hwadam Botanical Garden. The hills are larger here, and there are 10 ski slopes!
This park is better suited for intermediate to advanced skiers as there is only 1 beginner-friendly slope.
Aside from skiing, there is a spa and wellness centre and music camp for entertainment.
Tickets are priced in 2-hour blocks (2, 4 and 6 hours). Prices start at 82,000 won (weekends) and 66,000 won (weekdays) for 2 hours; up to 99,000 won (weekend) and 79,000 won (weekdays) for 6 hours. Tickets can be purchased onsite via unmanned kiosks.
They also offer clothing rental and equipment rental, starting from 25,000 won and 36,000 won respectively.
The resort is accessible by public transport! It has a dedicated train station: 곤지암 (Gonjiam). From here, you can take a 10-minute taxi or the Gwangju Village Bus No. 9. You can also opt for a private charter direct to the resort.
Konjiam Resort (곤지암리조트)

Ski Resort In Gangwon-do
MONA Yong Pyong
MONA Yong Pyong is the first to come to mind when talking about ski resorts in Korea. It’s Korea’s first ski resort and one of the largest!
There are 28 ski slopes in total, with 10 catering to beginners. The routes are colour-coded dotted lines on the map: Beginner (green), Intermediate (blue), Advanced (red) and Super (purple circles).
The resort spans an impressive 16 million square meters and includes a waterpark, a 7.4km cable car with multiple attractions and a skywalk bridge to enjoy the view of Balwangsan.
Ticket prices vary by time, ranging from 65,000 won for half day (9am-1pm or 1pm-5pm) to 84,000 won for a full day (9am-5pm). The full price list is here, though it might be updated for the 2024/2025 season.
Yongpyong resort offers a direct shuttle bus from Seoul or you can book a day tour there instead.
*The resort has delayed the opening of the ski slopes to November 29 2024 due to poor weather conditions.

Alpensia Ski Resort
Alpensia Ski Resort is also in Daegwallyeong, Pyeongchang. The resort only has 6 ski slopes, but they are significantly wider due to the mountain terrain. This gives plenty of space to ski down!
Alpha and Bravo are suitable for beginners and advanced beginners. Delta and Echo are for intermediate skiers, while Foxtrot and Charlie are for advanced skiers.
Ticket prices for the upcoming 2024/2025 winter season have yet to be announced.
There is a direct shuttle bus – Daewon Express – to Alpensia Ski Resort from Myeongdong, Sinchon and Sports Complex Station. Tickets start at 19,000 won. Take a day tour here from Seoul!

Vivaldi Park

Vivaldi Park is another popular ski resort option! The resort offers 12 ski slopes, catering more toward intermediate skiers.
What makes Vivaldi Park stand out is the plethora of entertainment facilities outside of skiing. There is Snowy Land, a snow-themed amusement park, a water park, golf and even horseback riding!
Ticket prices vary based on time blocks of 3, 5 and 7 hours. The pricing starts at 64,000 won (Adult, weekday) and 77,000 won (Adult, weekend) for 3 hours.
Equipment rental is available from 30,000 won (Adult, weekday). The full price list is here.
Vivaldi Park is accessible via public buses from Yangdeokwon Terminal or Hongcheon Terminal. Both terminals are accessible by bus from Seoul via the Dongseoul Terminal. If that’s too much work, opt for a day tour instead.

Welli Hilli Park
Welli Hilli Park is located 1.5 hours away from Seoul in Suribong Peak, known as a clean, pollution-free area.
The resort has 21 ski slopes, with 8 slopes being beginner-friendly. The ski routes are colour-coded on the map: Beginner (green), Intermediate (blue), Advanced (pink) and Expert (orange).
The slopes were designed by Paul Matthew of ECOSIGN Canada; certified for scale and safety!
Welli Hilli Park also follows a Season Pass system for 30,000 won. But this requires a membership which in turn requires Korean documentation, making it a hassle. We’d recommend a day tour there instead!

Elysian Resort

Elysian Resort is the closest ski resort to Seoul, only a one-hour train ride away! The resort has 10 slopes, making it friendly to beginners and intermediate skiers.
The resort is surrounded by 2 mountains and the Bukhangang river, making it a picturesque spot.
It also offers themed rooms which are good for children, including camping-themed, princess-themed and more!
Ticket prices vary by duration (4,6 and 8 hours), starting at 65,000 won (Weekday, adult) and 75,000 won (Weekend, adult); equipment rental is also available from 32,000 won. The full price list is here.
To get here, take the subway (Gyeongchun Line) or ITX-Cheongchun Train to Baegyang-ri (Elysian Gangchon) station. Take note that this line only operates in the winter!

High1 Resort is another big name in the ski resort game. They offer 27 slopes, with 9 for beginners. Check out their slope guide online.
Their slopes are suited for advanced skiers with its high mountain terrain!
This is the only ski resort in Korea that has a casino, alongside facilities like golf courses and water parks.
Ticket prices are according to hourly blocks (3,5,7 and 9 hours), starting at 58,000 won for Adults. Equipment rental is also available from 27,000 won (4 hours). The full price list is here, though it might be updated for the 2024/2025 season.

O2 Resort

O2 Resort re-opened after a brief closure, now housing 12 ski slopes. There is a good mix of slopes for beginners, intermediate and advanced skiers. If you don’t fancy skiing, you can opt for snow sledging!
The ski slopes are colour-coded: Very Easy (yellow), Easy (green), Difficult (blue) and Very Difficult (red).
Tickets for the ski lift are available either as a weekly pass (73,000 won/adults) or a half-day pass (53,000 won/adults). You can opt for 1-time (7,000 won/adults), 3-time (13,000 won/adults) or half-day (23,000 won/adults) use of the ski slopes.
The resort is accessible via intercity bus from Taebaek Intercity Bus Terminal, Dong Seoul Terminal or Incheon Airport bus, which all require pre-booking. Direct charter options are available.
