SKULLPANDA, the popular toy character, takes over at the National Museum of Singapore for an exhibition until the 22nd of February 2026..
Look forward to thought-provoking installations and even a Singapore-exclusive installation.
SKULLPANDA CAGE-UNCAGE SINGAPORE
The SKULLPANDA CAGE-UNCAGE Singapore exhibition is a collaboration between POP MART, the character’s creator, Xiong Miao, the National Museum of Singapore, and the Singapore Tourism Board.
The exhibition aims to deepen visitors’ self-understanding – to understand how their choices are shaped by their multiple layers of identity using creative spatial design and unique visual language.
Installations
The exhibition follows 6 key thematic zones that reflect the various aspects of our everyday life: Emotion, Direction, Fortune, Rules, Life, and Exploration.
Beyond the gallery, there is also a SKULLPANDA sculpture located on the front lawn, fittings at the Rotunda, and an LED wall just outside the Salon.
The Key

The journey begins at The Key, which uses a ten-sided prism of mirrors to reflect fragmented keys, showing how there are infinite possibilities and realities with just one key.
Emotion

Move on to Emotion, where a lock and key are placed in the middle of the shadow of SKULLPANDA’s signature astronaut helmet.
The shadows are placed opposite each other, reflecting the contrast between perception and truth.
Direction

Over in Direction, flip through a book with transparent pages filled with thorns, shackles, and webs – each a different perception of freedom.
Just next to it is a video featuring hand-drawn images that come alive with Xiong Miao’s iconic butterfly motif surrounding the display.
Fortune

Fortune features SKULLPANDA enclosed in a broken cabinet, accompanied by a crystal chandelier and a crystal-studded mirror, reflecting how wealth can be both dazzling and sharp.
Rules

In Rules, a top spins endlessly while a scale tips with the slightest touch.
It explores time and gravity, and is a reflection of our relationship with balance and discipline.
Life

Life features fish and birds in a globe filled with flowing sand, signifying time.
Here, you are encouraged to ponder over the idea of life.
Exploration

Interact with the installation in Exploration to build your own patterns or even reveal an image of SKULLPANDA.
This installation aims to unveil new perspectives through the rotating blocks.
The Room

Head over to The Room, which connects all 6 zones with mirrors and two SKULLPANDA sculptures sitting back to back with keys in hand.
Here, you are both the observer and observed.
Singapore Exclusive Installation

The exhibition comes to an end with the Singapore-exclusive installation, featuring original prototype figurines from the SKULLPANDA The Paradox Series in bird cages.
This is an installation that pays homage to Singapore’s beloved pastime – bird singing.
There is also a video created by Xiong Miao herself, with butterflies flying around key spots in Singapore.
Exclusive Merchandise

Don’t forget to check out the exclusive merchandise available! There are shirts, jewellery, and even a limited-edition SKULLPANDA Plush Doll ($39.9) that’s limited to one purchase per pax.
Do note that this retail store can only be accessed by ticket holders. Tickets can be purchased here.
