BreadTalk has released its Chinese New Year collection with a number of exciting new additions! Aptly named Hoppy Prosperity, this selection of bread, cakes and cookies incorporate cute CNY motifs into its yummy designs.
BreadTalk CNY 2023 Collection
Bread And Buns
There are both sweet and savoury options for the bread, starting strong with the unique Mala Pot ($6.80). The bun features classic mala ingredients like pork meatballs, mushrooms and lotus root on a butter roll, finished with a spicy sauce.
There’s also the Hoppy Carrot ($2.30) inspired by local carrot cake, with chunks of spicy radish cake, dried shrimp and spring onions. The sweet bread options include New Year Harvest ($2.30) a cute, bright carrot-shaped bread with a cream cheese filling and the Lucky Bunny ($2.30), a rabbit-shaped bun with a creamy strawberry milk centre.
Those who prefer traditional flavours can try the “Ong Lai Huat” ($2.30), a Hong Kong-style pineapple bun shaped after the auspicious fruit with a tangy pineapple jam and chewy mochi, or the Golden Pumpkin Bun ($4.80) that features six carrot-shaped buns filled with pumpkin paste.
Returning favourites include the Bak Kwa Delight ($2.30) and Yammy Treasures ($2.30), an ingot-shaped bun with a yam and egg yolk paste centre. BreadTalk is having a festive promotion where you can mix and match any 3 buns for $6! Choose from New Year Harvest, “Ong Lai Huat”, Lucky Bunny, Bak Kwa Delight, and Yammy Treasures.
Zodiac-Inspired Cakes
The cake options available all look as good as they taste, like the Prosperity Bunny ($6.90, 2 for $12) which has vanilla chiffon cake with strawberry mousse in a cute bunny shape.
There’s the Yuzu Roll ($12.80, $10 with any purchase) and the Mangococo ($48.80), a popular BreadTalk flavour with a new design featuring a mini bunny mousse cake and cheesy carrot cookie.
The Blissfully Prune ($20 for a whole cake, $3 for a slice) sponge cake is also making a comeback with flavours of prune paste, dried prunes and jaggery sugar. This cake is only available till 22 January and you can enjoy it at $16 with any purchase made.
