Pizza Maru, the world’s largest Korean pizza chain with over 600 restaurants worldwide, has opened a new outlet at X-Scap8 in Orchard Central! Look out for outlet-exclusive items like their Pepperosy Chicago and Bulgogi Taco Party.
Pizza Maru Menu
Pizza Maru offers a variety of pizzas made with unique dough variations. Their classic pizzas feature green tea dough, with options like Margherita ($18.90) and Bulgogi ($19.90). They also serve Chicago pizzas made using black rice dough, such as the Real BBQ Chicago ($33.90).
Exclusive to the Orchard Central outlet are the Pepperosy Chicago ($37.90) which features Pizza Maru’s patented black rice dough and the Bulgogi Taco Party ($29.90).
In addition to pizzas, they offer Korean fried chicken, including flavours like Garlic Gangjeong ($21.90) and Soy Garlic ($21.90), along with other mains like Maru Japchae Pasta ($16.90), Daeyang Pasta ($18.90), and Spicy Seafood Topokki ($18.90).
For drinks, they serve both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options. You can enjoy cocktails like Flower Puff ($18) and Rum Old Fashioned ($18), or choose from their mocktail selection, including Baby X-scap8 ($9) and Tropical Sunrise ($9).
Pepperosy Chicago Pizza
The Pepperosy Chicago ($37.90) was generously topped with cheese that gave it a satisfying cheese pull.
The pizza came with savoury toppings, including flower-shaped pepperoni and beef bits, which balanced well with the sweetness of the crust.
Glazed in honey, the crust had a unique sweetness typical of Korean-style pizzas and paired surprisingly well with the strawberry jam on the side, adding a pastry-like sweetness.
The crust is thick with a thin base, making it a hearty, shareable portion for 2-3 people.
Rose Shrimp Pasta
The Rose Shrimp Pasta ($20.90) featured a creamy rose sauce.
The sauce was a balanced mix of cream and Pizza Maru’s signature tomato sauce, which was rich but without being too heavy. It coated the pasta evenly, complementing the slightly chewy texture of the noodles.
While the dish was flavorful, a spicer take to this dish could have tasted better for those who prefer a bit more heat.
Heavenly Fries
The Heavenly Fries ($9.50) came with a unique pairing of honey and whipped cream dipping sauce. The fries are crispy and drizzled with honey, adding a sweet touch to the savoury dish. If you’re a fan of sweet and savoury combinations, this side is definitely worth a try!
Drinks
Green Fuel
The Green Fuel ($9) had a refreshing balance of sweet and tart flavours. While the mint initially had a strong, toothpaste-like taste, it became more enjoyable and refreshing after a few sips.
Berry Nice
The Berry Nice ($9) was a refreshing blend of peach, blueberry, and lime. We appreciated the balanced sweetness and overall taste without being overpowering.
