With over 800 stores across 60 cities, Kenangan Coffee has managed to make its mark despite only starting back in 2017. With stores in Malaysia, and now Singapore, the Indonesian Coffee Brand has called Raffles City Shopping Centre its first home here on our sunny island.
Kenangan, which is translated to memories, is one of the fastest-growing grab-and-go coffee chains in Indonesia. They’re not only committed to showing consumers how diverse and unique Indonesian coffee can be but have also brought over some of the newest tech for coffee.
Indonesian Coffee in Singapore
Being home to an archipelago of islands, you’ll find a variety of beans here at Kenangan Coffee, with some coming from West Sumatra, and East Nusa Tenggara, to name a few.
There is plenty of seating space at their Raffles City Shopping Centre outlet, located in Basement 1, despite being a grab-and-go coffee chain.
The menu at Kenangan Coffee starts from as low as $3.90, with an espresso shot going for $2.90. Their croissant is also priced at $2.90!
You’ll find items such as the classic Americano, with a competitive price of $3.90 for a small hot cup (8oz), and $5.40 for an iced large cup (20oz). Other drinks such as the Caramel Latte, Vanilla Latte, and Hazelnut Latte range from $4.90 to $6.50.
They also have non-coffee options like an Ice Shake Strawberry Tea and Ice Shaken Passion Fruit Tea ($4.50 to $5.50).
Low Glycemic Index Sweetener
The most unique thing about Kenangan Coffee is probably their Kenangan Latte ($4.90 to $6.50). Instead of the usual gula melaka, they use something known as Black Aren, which is a premium palm sugar derived from the Arenga pinnata palm in Java. It is minimally processed, additive-free and has a low glycemic index. It tasted similar to gula melaka, with a less intense coconut flavour and stronger smoky notes.
The Kenangan Latte had a nice balance of flavours and is probably one of the most creamy coffees we’ve had so far. They use a special, secret milk which adds to the creaminess. We tried looking for the milk cartons near the coffee bar but could not find any clues. Must be a trade secret!
For something more unique, opt for the Avocado Coffee ($6.50 to $7.50) which looks almost like a matcha latte. Despite looking like that, this drink does contain coffee, which we thought could’ve been stronger. However, avocado lovers would appreciate this drink as it was creamy and tasted like an avocado shake with an extra boost of caffeine. Guess there’s a reason why this is one of their top-selling drinks.
Their 3rd most popular drink is the Salted Caramel Macchiato ($5.50 to $6.90) which is surprisingly not overly sweet – one of the best compliments for Asians.
Alongside these drinks, Kenangan Coffee also has a range of bakes, such as Apple Lattice ($3.70), Chicken Cheese Sausage Puff ($4.50), Tuna Puff ($3.70) Croissant ($2.90), Chicken Su ($2.90), Salted Caramel Cruffin ($4.20) and more.
Experience Indonesian Coffee in Singapore
Coffee aficionados can now try a slice of Indonesian Coffee right here in Singapore, while those looking for a nice place to rest their feet near City Hall can consider Kenangan Coffee. With such competitive pricing, getting your daily morning cuppa here can be an option for office workers nearby.
For those living in the East or travelling out of Singapore, their second outlet in Changi Airport Terminal 2 is also set to open soon.
