Ah Li Mee Pok (Li Yuan Mee Pok)
Hidden in a coffee shop over at Blk 710 Clementi West, Ah Li Mee Pok brings together both aspects of Japanese food and a Singaporean classic – Ramen and Mee Pok.
One might be confused at the signboard that says Li Yuan Mee Pok, but you know you’re in the right place once you see their menu.
For their Japanese fusion Mee Pok, you can choose between a Miso or Shoyu base. According to the staff, the miso version has a sweeter taste while the shoyu version is slightly saltier.
We tried the Miso Mee Pok ($6/$7) and it had a nice blend of spicy and salty flavours. There’s a nice generous amount of ingredients such as char siew, commonly seen in ramen dishes, as well as some minced meat and meatballs which reminded us of the local dish, Bak Chor Mee.
While the meat was slightly tough, the fusion mee pok is still a fun dish to try. We could feel both Japanese and Singaporean aspects of the dish.

One Kueh At A Time
Opened by a former insurance agent who quit to sell Soon Kueh, One Kueh At A Time is truly a hidden gem as it’s located in an industrial estate.
The humble Soon Kueh brand has quite a huge following with nearly 10k followers on their Instagram. Lots of people were super excited to hear that they were reopening after a 2-year hiatus.
The menu here is simple – 6 different types of Soon Kueh, from the classic to vegetarian and vegan options, to more “exciting” flavours such as Haebi Hiam.
Being in the same building as Lim Chee Guan, there’s no reason to not have a Bak Kwa Soon Kueh ($2.50) right? Made using Lim Chee Guan’s signature bak kwa, the Soon Kueh had familiar flavours with a nice sweet aftertaste.

One Stone Three Birds
Run by super humble and friendly owners is One Stone Three Birds, a gelato shop that takes their customers’ feedback very seriously. It’s a great pit stop for desserts with unique and classic flavours like Yinn’s Osmanthus and Chrysanthemum, Blue Pea Lavender, Black Sesame and more.
Unfortunately, One Stone Three Birds will be closing down their physical store on 24th July 2020. But based on their Facebook post, they will be operating online and continue to provide pints and tubs hopefully in mid-August.
West Coast Park
After all that eating, head over to West Coast Park to burn off some calories. Take a stroll and breathe in some fresh air.
Camping is also allowed in West Coast Park, but you’ll need to apply for a camping permit. Do note that camping is only allowed in Area 3 of the park.
*Camping sites and barbeque pits will remain closed in Phase 2.
Desem Bakery
Another hidden gem in Clementi is Desem Bakery. The bakery serves a wide range of bakes such as sourdoughs, focaccias and their signature sourdough cream cheese with roasted garlic bread.
Some of their bakes remind us of Korea and Japan bakeries, which is also probably the reason why they have so many regular Japanese customers.
While they do accept walk-ins, it is highly recommended to make a pre-order via Whatsapp (+65 8137 8796).
