I’m donut?, the Tokyo donut shop known for its long queues, is opening its first Singapore outlet at ION Orchard (#B2-19), which is connected to Orchard MRT.
Its nama donuts are made from a brioche dough that is fried quickly at high heat, giving them a light, airy texture that is noticeably softer than a typical donut.
What Is I’m donut?
I’m donut? was founded by Japanese chef Ryouta Hirako, who is also behind Fukuoka bakeries Amam Dacotan and Dacomecca. The nama donut came about by accident, when he fried brioche dough at his bakery.
The brand opened its first store in Nakameguro, Tokyo, in 2022, and now has more than a dozen stores across Japan.
It has since opened overseas in New York, Seoul, Taipei and Kuala Lumpur, where more than 200 people queued before its opening in September 2026.
What Is A Nama Donut?
“Nama” means “fresh” or “raw” in Japanese. I’m donut? makes its nama donuts from a brioche dough, which is fermented slowly at a low temperature and then fried quickly at high heat.
The result is a donut with a thin outer layer and a soft, moist centre that almost melts in your mouth. Since the dough is so light, it is best eaten on the day you buy it.
