TLDR: Spicy Hubby is the first mall outlet of Amoy Street Food Centre nasi lemak stall Spicy Wife, now open at The Centrepoint, 176 Orchard Road. Standouts include the Nasi Ayam Gepuk ($12.90), Nasi Goreng Ayam Berempah ($9.90) and Nasi Rendang Ayam ($12.90). Mains range from $9.90 to $12.90, and sides start from $1.50.
Spicy Wife built its following on the long lunch queues at Amoy Street Food Centre, so its first mall outlet is an easy win for anyone who has given up on that wait. Run by the same team, Spicy Hubby is the stall’s new sister outlet and has taken over a spot at The Centrepoint Food Street on Orchard Road.
The menu centres on Malaysian-style nasi lemak with fried chicken, including the hawker stall’s signature Berempah chicken alongside two dishes created specially for this outlet: chicken rendang and ayam Gepuk.
What Is Spicy Hubby?

Spicy Hubby is a nasi lemak restaurant at The Centrepoint on Orchard Road, run by the team behind Amoy Street Food Centre’s “Spicy Wife”. It serves nasi lemak plates with coconut rice, sambal and three kinds of chicken, along with a long list of sides.

The space has a traditional coffee shop look that is done well, and it feels homey and nostalgic in the best way.

What We Ate
Every main comes with fragrant coconut rice and Spicy Hubby’s sambal. The sambal was not too spicy and leaned sweet, suitable for people with all spice tolerances.
Nasi Goreng Ayam Berempah ($9.90)

This is the dish Spicy Wife’s fans queue for at Amoy. Combined with the coconut rice and sambal, it was one of the best we’ve tried
The chicken was crispy outside and tender inside, with a deep, fragrant marinade that was flavourful with every bite.
At $9.90, this is the cheapest main on the menu and the best place to start if it’s your first time trying Spicy Wife.
Nasi Ayam Gepuk ($12.90)

The Ayam Gepuk was our favourite! The fried chicken was huge, airy and tasty, having a similar texture to Taiwanese fried chicken.
The signature peanut sauce and chilli further complemented the chicken, giving the dish a unique umami that was addictive.
If you get one dish, make it this one.
Nasi Rendang Ayam ($12.90)

The chicken in the rendang was tender and juicy, pairing well with the rice. The curry was fragrant and manageable for anyone who doesn’t do well with spice, which makes it an easy pick for spice-shy diners.
Curry Fish Ball ($6.90)

The curry broth was nice and seeped right into the fishballs, so every bite carried a savoury, lightly spiced flavour. The fishballs themselves were bouncy and soaked up the sauce well, which made this a comforting side to share alongside any of the mains.
Is Spicy Hubby Worth A Visit?
Yes, Spicy Hubby is easy to recommend to almost anyone, especially if you love fried chicken. The Nasi Ayam Gepuk is the dish to order, and the Berempah chicken is a value meal at $9.90, especially in Orchard.
It also works well for people who can’t take much heat, because the sambal and rendang lean sweet rather than fiery. It’s a good spot for a weekday lunch near Somerset or a casual meal with friends after a day at Orchard.
