Age.3, the Tokyo fried sando shop known for long queues outside its Ginza store, is opening its first Singapore outlet at ION Orchard (#B4-64/65), which is connected to Orchard MRT.
Each sando starts with Japanese milk bread that is fried, split and filled to order, with 34 sweet and savoury flavours on the Singapore menu.
What Is Age.3?
Age.3 grew out of FRUITS SAND THREE, a fruit sandwich shop in Kama City, Fukuoka. Its fried sandos became popular enough to get a dedicated store in Ginza, Tokyo, which opened in 2023.
The name is a play on Japanese: “age” (pronounced “ah-geh”) comes from “ageru”, meaning to deep fry, while “3” is read as “san”, which echoes “sando”.
The brand has since opened in Asakusa, Harajuku and Hida Takayama in Japan, and overseas in Shanghai, Sydney, Manila, Dubai and Bangkok. It has sold more than one million fried sandos worldwide, with queues at its Ginza store reaching up to two hours.
What Is An Age Sando?
An age sando is a Japanese fried sandwich. Age.3 uses a coarse-textured Japanese milk bread made specially for frying, which is dried and then deep fried so the outside turns crisp and golden while the centre stays soft and chewy. The bread is then split and filled with sweet or savoury fillings.
It differs from a katsu sando, where the filling is fried and the bread is not, and from agepan, a deep-fried bread roll coated in sugar or kinako with no filling. Since each sando is fried to order, it is best eaten soon after you get it.
Where Is Age.3 Singapore?
Age.3 Singapore is at ION Orchard, 2 Orchard Turn, #B4-64/65, Singapore 238801. The nearest MRT station is Orchard (NS22/TE14), which connects directly to the mall’s basement levels.
What’s On The Age.3 Singapore Menu?
The Singapore menu brings over Age.3’s bestsellers from Japan. It offers 34 sandos, split between sweet and savoury. Every sando uses the same fried milk bread base, and the bread is baked fresh daily.
Sweet options range from fruit and dessert-inspired flavours to a chocolate cream selection made with nama chocolate. The savoury range covers meat, salad, curry and even noodle fillings!
Their signature is the Whipped Cream Sando, made with low-sugar fresh whipped cream that is prepared in-store and whipped by hand.
Prices are unconfirmed, and this article will be updated once available.
