It seems like it wasn’t long ago that Tom’s Farm had a new flavour, which was the Jeju Matcha Almond. But fast forward a few months and Tom’s Farm has launched two new flavours – Garlic Bread Almond and Cheongyang Mayo Almond.
We purchased these new flavours from Shopee ourselves and put our taste buds to the test:
Tom’s Farm Garlic Bread Almond
While the combination of a garlic bread flavoured almond sounds simple, a quick search on the internet revealed that this has not been done before.
Was this new flavour inspired by the Korean Cream Cheese Garlic buns that were trending a while back? But whatever the inspiration was, we’re just glad that someone on the Tom’s Farm team thought of this. Because this new flavour is the bomb.
Something different about Tom’s Farm Garlic Bread Almond is that does not contain only almonds, but actual garlic bread croutons.
Once opened, you’ll get a nice whiff of garlicky baked goodness, a preview of what’s to come ahead.
Taste-wise, it really tastes like garlic bread. Sprinkled with garlic bread seasoning and what seems to be dried parsley leaves, the almonds are packed with flavour and has a slightly sweet aftertaste.
The best part is the garlic bread crouton, which is light and crunchy, and honestly, would probably go great on a salad.
We would say this is one of the better, if not, the best savoury Tom Farm’s almond flavours out there.
Tom’s Farm Cheongyang Mayo Almond
Judging from the packaging, where the almond characters are gathering around a table at a Pojangmacha (Korean tent bar), we’re guessing this is one of those flavours that would go great with alcohol.
The inspiration behind the Cheongyang Mayo Almond is for days where you crave for something spicy that will go great with a can of beer.
Upon opening of the Cheongyang Mayo Almond, there was a strong bell pepper-ish kind of smell.
If you look closely, there are tiny green specks on the surface of the Cheongyang Mayo pepper, which we can only assume are bits and pieces of the actual Cheongyang pepper.
First impressions of the Cheongyang Mayo Almond? This would go great with soju or beer.
We can’t see ourselves eating this continuously, like the Garlic Bread Almond, but it does feel like a great side dish when drinking, or maybe even as banchan during a meal.
We did hope for more mayonnaise flavour which didn’t quite show through during the first few almonds. The spiciness did start to kick in after a few pieces of almonds. That’s probably when you should down a shot of soju.
We would recommend this as a bar snack, or maybe those who like bell pepper would appreciate this. It’s definitely a love-it or hate-it kind of snack.
