The relaxed ambience makes this a good spot for brunch in Orchard.
What Is Garden Café At One-Ninety Bar?
Garden Café is the daytime concept on One-Ninety Bar’s alfresco terrace at Four Seasons Hotel Singapore in Orchard. It’s helmed by Executive Pastry Chef Daniel Windelhed, and the ambience is built for a casual visit, with eat in or take away available.
The atmosphere is nice, leaning classy without being overly formal. The outdoor section has a homey vibe, almost like it was a hidden café rather than an extension of a hotel-bar. The seat swings and fountains on the terrace are also a nice touch that make it feel different compared to the usual hotel alfresco setup.

What We Ate (Mains)
English Breakfast Royale Sandwich ($26)

This was the star of the show. The muffin was soft and surprisingly not dry, and the sautéed mushrooms with a hint of citrus helped cut through the richness of the sausage and bacon.
It was a hearty combination and worked well without being overly filling.
If you only order one thing at Garden Café, make it this.
Singapore Chilli Crab Omelette ($32)

A local twist on the usual hotel brunch omelette, the chilli crab flavour comes through without drowning the omelette, and the mantou on the side is perfect for mopping up the remaining sauce.
Maccheroni al Formaggio ($28)

The mac and cheese was fragrant and creamy, reminding us of a carbonara. However, it was a little dry, and the roasted pumpkin didn’t contribute much flavour beyond adding visual flair.
The chef did mention that they were still working on making the pumpkin flavour more pronounced, so this might improve by the time you visit.
Signature Salmon Poke Bowl ($24)

The truffle miso sauce really carries this dish, bringing the right amount of savouriness and umami that elevated it for us. The salmon itself was also really fresh and tender.
One tip: Go easy on the sauce, it is rather concentrated and can overpower the rest of the bowl easily.
Open-Faced Chicken Cordon Bleu ($24)

While this looked great on the plate, the chicken turned out a bit dry, leaving more to be desired. The Fontina cheese was strong but didn’t add much flavour; we think the dish could be more balanced with the cheese-ham-chicken ratio.

What We Ate (Desserts)
Strawberry Financier ($14)
The standout of what we tried. The vanilla cream was fragrant and you can even spot bits of vanilla beans! It was well balanced in terms of sweetness and the whole dish was light and smooth.
Tiramisu Classico ($16)

This was a good tiramisu! It was not overly heavy on the coffee, with a hint of milk chocolate that balanced it out nicely.
If you like tiramisu, you won’t be disappointed by this.
Vanilla French Toast ($14)

The toast was soft and the butter helped balance out the entire dish. However, the forest honey was surprisingly strong and carried a tart, fruity flavour. A little goes a long way and we felt a sweeter drizzle might have worked better .
Other sweet treats you can enjoy include the Valrhona Dark Chocolate Moussen ($16), Pandan Kaya Cake ($14) and Citrus Petite Gâteau ($14).
Signature Drinks We Tried

Kopi Cream ($15)
This was a lighter take on the usual local kopi, with the cream adding a nice milkiness that didn’t dilute the coffee. It’s also not too sweet, making it something like a macchiato.
Coco Matcha ($18)
This surprised us. We didn’t expect a drink with coconut water in it to taste this creamy rather than diluted, and the matcha cold foam on top works well. But for $18, it’s not one we’d order on a regular basis.
The Classics (coffee & tea)
Espresso/Macchiato $12, Cappuccino/Latte/Mocha $14, specialty teas $13. Regular, low-fat, almond, oat and soy milk available.
Is One-Ninety Bar Worth A Visit?
The interior is aesthetic and is a suitable setting for celebrations or even a catch-up with friends. While prices lean on the higher side, it’s still worth a visit for the overall experience, from the atmosphere to the quality of the food.
If you do go, the English Breakfast Royale Sandwich and the Singapore Chilli Crab Omelette are absolute must-tries. For dessert, be sure to leave room for the Strawberry Financier!
