We’ve been to our fair share of buffets in Singapore and it’s not always easy to find one that feels different. That’s what caught our attention at Canning Bar & Lounge in METT Singapore, which recently introduced a Sunday roast-inspired buffet experience called The Governor’s Table.
Unlike typical hotel buffets, this one only takes place on the first Sunday of each month.
What Is The Governor’s Table?

The Governor’s Table is a buffet concept at Canning Bar & Lounge inspired by a classic English Sunday roast.
A traditional Sunday roast centres around slow-roasted meats with potatoes, gravy and simple sides. It’s designed to be hearty and communal.
Priced at $98++ per person, this semi-buffet experience includes a live carving station, seafood bar, and optional free-flow alcoholic beverages as a top-up.
The first edition will launch on 29 March 2026, with subsequent sessions happening monthly.
Governor’s Table Menu
The main highlight is the beef prime rib, carved live at the station. It was served tender medium rare, with a good balance of rich fat and robust beef flavour.
The side of horseradish cream and anchovy butter complemented the meat.
If you’re not a beef person, the roasted spring chicken is a solid alternative with crisp skin and juicy meat.
They also serve mini Yorkshire puddings! These are a staple in traditional Sunday roasts, but not something you often see in Singapore.
We didn’t get to try them fresh from the oven, so they were slightly denser than expected. That said, they still worked well as a base to hold meat, gravy, and vegetables in one bite.
The seafood bar featured oysters and prawns. The oysters were on the brinier side, but the prawns stood out more than expected!
Fresh, sweet, and juicy, easily one of the better buffet prawns we’ve had.
There’s also a selection of cold cuts, cheeses, and salads, which balance out the heavier mains. We recommend the focaccia (yes, carbs at a buffet) with mozzarella and olive oil.
The dessert section turned out to be another highlight! The White Chocolate Raspberry Trifle was sweet but light, offset by the tartness from the fresh berries.
We especially liked Sticky Toffee Pudding. This was more indulgent, with a rich caramel sauce that paired well with the dense cake and vanilla ice cream.
Is The Canning Bar & Lounge Buffet Worth It?
If you’re wondering whether The Governor’s Table at Canning Bar & Lounge is worth trying, it depends on what you’re looking for in a buffet. While the dishes are generally well-executed, the selection is relatively limited for the price point.
That said, the space is intimate and relaxed, making it more suited for a slower meal! Think date nights or small celebrations rather than a typical buffet.
