There’s more Korean food to enjoy in Suntec City! Sotbox is a kiosk-style concept offering different fast Korean food options – starting with the humble kimbap.
Simple But Attractive Storefront
The storefront is located in basement one, joining their sister concepts Sotpot and Onggii! It’s hard to miss with its open concept and bright display of kimbap rolls.
It is takeaway-only, but there is a small seated area if you want to enjoy your food on the spot.
Sotbox Menu
The Sotbox menu currently focuses on various kimbap, though the team shares they are looking to expand their offerings to different Korean foods next time!
The classic kimbap flavours include Tuna Mayo ($11.90), Beef Bulgogi ($10.90) and Fishcake ($11.90) plus keto options with egg strips instead of rice! There’s even Kkoma kimbap, a smaller bite-sized version in flavours like fried kimchi ($2) and cream cheese ($2.20).
Aside from those, there’s Yubu kimbap made with stuffed marinated tofu pouches. The filling selection includes Pork Bulgogi ($2.50) and Fishcake ($2.50).
Kimbap
We tried two regular kimbap – Cheese ($10.90) and Beef Bulgogi ($10.90). They were generously filled, with a packed cross section full of ingredients like meat, eggs and fresh vegetables.
We enjoyed the Beef Bulgogi for the meat! The beef was well-marinated and tender with a nice bit of fattiness, which made for a satisfying bite.
The Cheese didn’t have a standout flavour, though we enjoyed the combination of textures from the fillings. It might pair better with one of their dipping sauces, like their K-Mustard ($1) or Sesame-Soy ($1).
Choongmu Kimbap
Something special they offer is the Choongmu Kimbap ($11.90), a speciality street food from Busan! It features plain kimbap rolls with spicy seasoned squid and radish.
This was a standout item for us; with the mix of textures from the crunchy radish and firm squid. Despite being rice-based, it was still refreshing and addictive from the spice. We haven’t found this anywhere else in Singapore so it’s something unique!
Yubu Kimbap
We tried four flavours of Yubu kimbap: Crab Salad ($2.90), Pork Bulgogi ($2.50), Fishcake ($2.50) and Fried Kimchi ($2.50).
These were hefty and very generously filled. Our favourites were the Pork Bulgogi and Fishcake, though we think more seasoning in the rice would make these stand out more!
Sides
They also offer hot sides with the kimbap, including Chicken Gangjeong (fried chicken, $7.90) and Fried Eomuk sticks ($2.90). Both options are addictive, crunchy and well-seasoned. We especially liked the Gangjeong in the sweet chilli sauce!
If you like soup, get a side of their Gomtang in either Beef ($2.90) or Pork ($2.40). It is a lighter version of the broth they serve in Onggii, so its warm and rich in flavour but not too cloying.
Korean Food in Suntec City
Despite specialising only in kimbap, Sotbox brings a few special offerings that make it stand out from other Korean food stores! If you’re looking for something grab-and-go, this is a good option!
@middleclass.sg Could do with heavier seasoning but we’d never say no to kimbap!!! #sgfoodie #fypsg #sgtiktok #tiktoksg ♬ Supernatural – NewJeans
