After the amazing success we had with the Rose Shin Ramyun recipe, we were constantly on the lookout for more new, interesting, and easy recipes you can make with instant noodles. We came across a recipe on Cookat for an Aglio Olio using Shin Ramyun.
The Aglio E Olio Ramyun (we’re just gonna call it Shin Ramyun Aglio Olio) uses lots of garlic and olive oil as its base. It’s a relatively simple recipe, so we tried it for ourselves!
Shin Ramyun Aglio Olio
To make Aglio Olio using Shin Ramyun, you will need these ingredients.
Ingredients
- 1 packet of Shin Ramyun
- Olive Oil
- Garlic (We used around 10 cloves)
- Bacon
- Crushed Chilli Flakes
The original recipe called for crushed red pepperoncini, but our neighbourhood mart didn’t carry it, so we used crushed chili flakes instead. You can use any kind of bacon, but we used back bacon, since the supermarket was out of the usual kind.
Steps:
Cook the instant noodles in a pot of boiling water and take it out. We’re going to put this into a pan later and stir-fry it with the other ingredients. Keep some of the noodle broth for later as well.
One tip we realized is not to cook the noodles for too long. The packaging recommended a cooking time of 4 to 5 mins, you can cook it for around 4 mins since we’re going to fry it again later.
Add enough olive oil to a pan and add the sliced garlic.
Next, add in the crushed chilli flakes and stir fry together with garlic. If you love spicy food, we recommend adding more crushed chilli flakes.
Before the garlic turns brown, we’re going to add in the bacon and stir-fry to let it release some flavourful fat.
If you notice some of the smaller slices of garlic turning golden brown, you can add in the cooked noodles and mix it with the ingredients in the pan.
Add in a ladleful of noodle broth and continue to stir fry.
Before we end, add in half of the Shin Ramyun seasoning and stir-fry it well.
Shin Ramyun Aglio Olio Taste Test
We guess this recipe would be perfect for anyone who’s sick of having instant noodles all the time, or for those who have an empty pantry but want something fancier than instant noodles.
The dish does taste delicious, but we assume it would have been more fragrant should we have used pepperoncini. The garlic played a huge role, and the shin ramyun seasoning helped with the saltiness and spiciness of the dish (which is why you don’t need to add any salt).
We could see ourselves adding more protein such as shrimp to this to make it a more filling and balanced meal.
This recipe would probably work with any other instant noodle, but we do recommend sticking to one with spicy seasoning since it helps to cut through the grease.
Another Shin Ramyun Recipe
With more people staying home, we guess there’ll be more and more amazing ramyun recipes to follow. The Shin Ramyun Aglio Olio is a great alternative to the Rose Shin Ramyun if you’re not a fan of creamy stuff.
