There are simply too many restaurants in Seoul, and it’s challenging for one to grab my attention, but when I heard about what On 6.5 is doing at Anguk, I knew I had to visit immediately.
First of all, this contemporary dining bar in Anguk is gorgeous. It adopts a modern hanok setting, which is really apt considering the neighbourhood it’s located in. They do not accept walk-ins, so reservations are required. Foreigners can either use Catchtable or Creatrip to get a seat.

Apart from being a spot frequented by celebrities like BTS’s RM & Jimin, G-Dragon, Taeyang and LE SSERAFIM, the restaurant incorporates elements of kimchi into their dishes.
Even the name On 6.5 is derived from the ideal temperature at which kimchi ferments!
Menu at On 6.5 Anguk
Their menu does change from time to time, but some items seen on their menu are the Uni Seaweed Noodle (34,000won), Cabbage Ssam (23,000won), Minari Dwaeji Gukbap (36,000won), White Cucumber Kimchi (23,000won) and Kimchi Pad Thai (27,000won).
The experience at On 6.5 begins with a complimentary aperitif. It’s a non-alcoholic one made using Minari, also known as water parsley, which tastes sweet and good—almost like kiwi juice! It also comes with a side of chips with kimchi sandwiched between them, signalling the start of a kimchi journey.
The signature dish here at On 6.5 is their Fried Kimchi (21,000won), which combines various kimchi, such as white, garlic scape, and chilli kimchi, with shrimp and deep-fried to perfection. They also top it off with some dongchimi sour cream tableside, so make sure to get your cameras ready for this.
The Mushroom Steak (25,000won) was unassuming, it’s made with aged kimchi, seasonal mushrooms and a ground soybean sauce, resulting in an earthy dish. The tofu mayonnaise was really interesting and paired well with the mushrooms!
There was also the Tuna Gimbap (23,000 won) that came perfectly plated. Unlike the usual gimbap, it’s triangular in shape, and inside, you’ll find perilla leaf, mukeunji, a type of kimchi, alongside other ingredients. I’m not usually a fan of perilla leaf, but this one was really balanced out that the unique scent of perilla leaf didn’t bother me much.
One of my favourite dishes at On 6.5 was this Kimchi Tteokbokki (18,000won). Unlike your usual tteokbokki, this one is made with aged kimchi, resulting in a deep flavour you can’t get from just gochujang.
It’s served with a platter of deep-fried skewers such as peppers, mushrooms and sundae, replicating your typical bunsik experience. The tteokbokki is also topped with lots of cheese, and who doesn’t like cheese, right?
The Galbijjim (38,000won) was also really good, featuring tender, fall-off-the-bone meat, white kimchi, and a salad served with a kimchi salsa.
Do note that diners must order a drink here, which can range from wines to traditional Korean liquor options, so it might not be the most kid-friendly spot.
Must-Visit Restaurant in Anguk
If you’re looking for a place to have dinner when you’re in Anguk, On 6.5 is one to consider. However, make sure to reserve in advance because they don’t accept walk-ins most of the time!
