If there’s one thing a Chinese brand knows how to do, it’s to pull out all the stops – and LONGJING does just that! The new restaurant in Suntec City brings a menu of refined Zhejiang cuisine designed by a Michelin-starred chef, alongside an immersive interior.
Bringing The West Lake To Singapore
The first thing that catches your eye is the scale and detail of the restaurant. It’s inspired by West Lake (西湖) in Hangzhou, featuring traditional Chinese elements such as dainty lanterns, foliage, and flag banners to evoke the same ambience.
There’s even a seating area modelled after a Chinese row boat in the middle of the restaurant, complete with running water underneath.
You can catch special performances as part of their opening celebrations (from 27 August to 2 September 2025), including live guzheng, a giant panda mascot and Chinese classical dance!
LONGJING Restaurant Menu
LONGJING focuses on Zhejiang cuisine, bringing the nuanced and fresh flavours of regions like Hangzhou, Ningbo and Wenzhou.
The restaurant’s namesake is a type of green tea, which is incorporated into some dishes!
These are highlighted in dishes like Dongpo Ribs ($20.80), glazed in the familiar sweet and sweet sauce, and the Steamed Yellow Croaker ($29.80), a popular Chinese fish.
You’ll find that the menu is well-rounded with different proteins and produce, prepared with flavours that feel like humble, home-cooked food.
Other elevated items include the Stewed Beef with Radish ($22.80) and Claypot Flower Crab with Fresh Peppercorn ($35.80).
There are plenty of accompanying sides like Salted Egg Yolk Pumpkin ($12.80), Shaoxing Pork Buns ($6.80) and Fried Rice with Black Truffle and Beef ($12.80).
They even have desserts like Jiangnan Green Tea Cake ($4.80) and Caramel Tea Flavoured Milk Jelly ($4.80).
Appetisers & Cold Dishes
We started the meal with Hangzhou Hot and Sour Soup ($5.80/serving). It lacked a bit of body for us; it could do with more savoury flavours to balance out the acidity!
The Hangzhou Eggplant with Sweet Peppers ($9.80) was an appetising cold dish, combining the kick of peppers with fragrant sesame oil-tossed eggplants.
Longjing Roasted Chicken
A signature item is the Longjing Roasted Chicken ($23.80), featuring a whole roasted chicken perfumed with green tea leaves before serving.
The chicken was well-seasoned with an aromatic and peppery flavour, but we found the meat a bit tough overall.
Michelin-Star Dishes
The LONGJING menu was created by Chef Master Yu Bin, who has overseen multiple Michelin-starred concepts.
Some items highlight this expertise, like the Minced Pork Pancake ($18.80).
These rolls feature pieces of crispy pork and fried tofu skin in a sweet sauce, creating an addictive sweet-savoury combo!
Another interesting dish is the Steamed Minced Shrimp in Okra ($15.80). This was surprisingly clean, crunchy and sweet, without any unpleasant sliminess usually associated with okra.
Hot Dishes
The most popular dish of Hangzhou is Dongpo Pork ($16.80)! LONGJING’s iteration presents four shiny, perfectly jiggly pieces of braised pork upon a bed of rice.
These were melt-in-your-mouth tender and were not overbearing despite the copious amounts of fat. It had a nice balance of salty and sweet, pairing great with the rice.
The Rice In Shrimp Soup ($12.80) was served bubbling hot with a topping of crispy rice bits and a bright orange prawn broth.
It had an indulgent, umami-rich flavour that was well-absorbed by the rice, but it could do with more prawns for better texture!
Ice Cream Leifeng Pagoda Dessert
An ornate dessert is the Ice Cream Leifeng Pagoda Dessert ($4.80), modelled after the famous Leifeng Pagoda in Hangzhou.
While ice cream is in the name, it tasted like milk pudding. Nothing to shoutout about, but we appreciated the eye to detail even down to their desserts.
Chinese Restaurant In Suntec
With its refined ambience and regal theme, LONGJING Restaurant presents a cosy space for gatherings. The portion and quality of their dishes also make it worth it for the prices!
