With the pandemic putting a damper on everyone’s travel plans, Singaporeans (us included) have been turning to different places that make us feel like we’re overseas. Since we can’t go overseas, let’s explore places in Singapore that make us feel like we are! Aside from cafes that remind us of Korea, there are also cafes that remind us of Taiwan, and Jing Si Books and Cafe is a great example.
Jing Si Books and Cafe in Yishun
Jing Si Books and Cafe is located within Tzu Chi Humanistic Centre, alongside places like Real Food and Slow Bakes.
The wooden interior really reminded us of the classic teahouses found in Taiwan. We also liked how they put up signs telling customers to lower their volume in the cafe.
Jing Si Cafe Menu
The Yishun cafe has a menu that mainly comprises of teas, such as Lavender Tea ($5 for a pot), Rose Black Tea ($5 for a pot), and Roselle Tea ($5.5, only cold).
They also have more interesting items such as a Multi-Grain Drink ($3.5), Job’s Tear & Bean ($3.5), and Chinese Yam & Job’s Tear ($3.5)
Apart from drinks, it doesn’t seem like the teahouse is serving any bites at the moment.
We went for a pot of Jing Si Oolong Tea ($4.50) which we felt was a value-for-money decision as it lasted for quite some time. It was served together with a piece of multigrain cracker at the side.
Hidden Teahouse in Yishun
Sometimes it’s really nice to be able to just zone out and enjoy being in the present. The place provided a zen and healing environment which probably made the pot of tea even more enjoyable.
If you ever find yourself needing some alone time or a place to relieve stress, a pot of tea at Jing Si Books and Cafe is a great way to spend the afternoon.
