Hansik Dining Collective is a new 24-hour Korean food spot in Tanjong Pagar boasting an impressive 6 different Korean food concepts in one place!
The collective officially opens on 11 November 2024.
Multiple Korean Food Offerings
The space spans two storeys, sitting up to 118 people.
The first floor hosts Go Gi Jip, Halmae Gukbap and Hanyang Bulgogi. This space is open 24 hours, offering K-BBQ, hearty Korean soups and traditional Korean fare.
It has a bright and airy design with touches of rattan and camelia flower motifs inspired by Jeju Island. They also have private rooms available!
There’s also a dedicated self-service banchan area in the centre with plenty of kimchi, lettuce and sauces.
The second floor is more laid back, with Kko Kko Na Ra with Korean fried chicken and two bar concepts: ChungSa ChoRong and My Patio.
It’s darker and more stylised, with ChungSa ChoRong boasting designs with a traditional Korean hanok look!
This area is open till 2 am making it good for late-night gatherings.
Hansik Dining Collective Menu
With 6 different menus, there’s a lot to choose from.
Go Gi Jip offers Ganjang Gejang ($85), alongside their regular Korean BBQ menu of premium porn cuts like Iberico pork and Black pork.
For fried chicken, Kko Kko Na Ra offers classic chicken flavours like Garlic Soy and Sweet & Spicy.
There are 2 new concepts: Halmae Gukbab and Hanyang Bulgogi.
Halmae Gukbab offers traditional Korean soups, with the signature being the Dwaeji Gukbab ($25), simmered for 24 hours in gamasot (Korean pots).
They also have other soups like Dak Gomtang ($30), Seollongtang ($25) and Siraegi Gukbab ($25)!
Hanyang Bulgogi focuses on traditional Korean fare like Bulgogi Jeongol ($65 for 500g), a recipe from Korean royal cuisine and Bibimbap cooked on a stone plate. They also have Dombe Gogi (from $25), a Jeju-style boiled pork dish.
Banchan
We were immediately greeted by two trays of banchan, including kimchi, seasoned seaweed and even fried sweet potatoes!
The standout item for us was this freshly made kimchi (from $10). It was crunchy and refreshing with a strong umami from the seasoning, plus a good kick of spice.
Bulgogi Jeongol
The Bulgogi Jeongol (from $65 for 500g) was served on a golden grill pan and cooked tableside. It also included sweet potato noodles and some chives.
The meat looked unassuming but we were impressed by the marinade! It was not too sweet and had a strong soy sauce flavour that permeated the meat.
We also liked the chewy noodles that soaked up the broth.
Ganjang Gejang
Fans of marinated crab can try the Ganjang Gejang ($85), which had a generous amount of crab roe!
The soy sauce flavour was strong and there wasn’t a strong fishy taste. We found it too salty for our taste but a bowl of white rice would pair well with this.
We also tried the Yangnyeom Gejang ($65) . The crabs were smaller with no roe, but the spicy sauce was addictive and complemented the sweetness of the crab meat!
Bibimbap
The Bibimbap was cooked on a stone plate, garnished with vegetables and an egg yolk. The portion is generous can easily feed 2 or 3 people.
If you like a crispy bottom, you can leave the rice to cook a little longer!
The taste didn’t stand out to us but it was a simple and no-frills bibimbap. This did not come with any meat or protein so we recommend ordering meats as add-ons, like bulgogi beef ($35 top-up) or pork ($35 top-up).
Original Korean Fried Chicken
The Original Korean Fried Chicken from Kko Kko Na Ra was good, with a crisp outside crust and juicy, slightly spicy meat.
We found the batter a bit sweet which surprised us! It may not be for everyone but it didn’t overwhelm the other flavours.
