After an exciting debut at Tras Street, Singapore’s first ox tongue specialty restaurant, Gyutan-Tan opens its second outlet in Takashimaya S.C., bringing beef tongue lovers a range of gyutan dishes and more.
Their new outlet in Orchard features an exclusive afternoon tea menu, alongside a convenient take-and-go counter with Japanese-inspired coffee.
Lunch & Don Sets at Gyutan-Tan
Perfect for lunch are their set meals which come with a main, some sides, and rice. The classic Combo Gyutan Set ($30) is available here, which features a combination of thin and thick cuts of gyutan that have been grilled over binchotan charcoal.
Exclusive to the Takashimaya outlet is the Gyutan-Tan Don Set ($26), which features braised gyutan, sliced beef, and onions on top of a bed of fluffy mugimeshi rice. This was served alongside sides, salad, and soup – making it a hearty lunch option!
Other more interesting options include an oyako-don-inspired Gyutan Tamago-toji Set ($28), and a Gyutan-Tan Chazuke ($22) which features a tea-infused broth poured over grilled gyutan.
For those opting for a lighter lunch, the Roasted Gyutan and Caramel Onion Sando ($16) is a great option to savour their signature beef tongue offerings. The toasted shokupan goes super well with the caramelized onions and succulent gyutan!
If this isn’t enough, dig into some light snacks and salads such as the Sweet Potato Daigaku Imo ($8) or the Japanese Potato Salad with Stewed Gyutan ($12). We absolutely loved the sweet potato daigaku imo, which was super moreish and had just the right amount of sticky caramel coating on the outside.
Japanese-Inspired Teatime Treats in Orchard
Available only from 3pm to 5:30pm daily, the Afternoon Tea Set ($42) is one that’s perfect for two and is limited to just ten sets daily!
Featuring an assortment of sweet and savoury treats such as a mini gyutan slider, egg & ham sandwich, a homemade egg pudding, and other Japanese snacks. The afternoon tea set also features a couple of seasonal fruits, so it does change from season to season.
Apart from the warabimochi, we absolutely loved the silky homemade egg pudding which had a slight burnt caramel sweetness to it.
Another sweet treat to enjoy before leaving Gyutan-Tan is the Matcha Fondue ($20), which is served with an assortment of marshmallows, sponge cake, dango and fresh fruits. The matcha dip had a nice balance of sweetness and bitterness and will satisfy any matcha cravings. One of our favourite picks!
