One of the good things to come out of this pandemic is the rise of cloud kitchens. These places offer a great selection of food for delivery, so you get more choices on your Grab and Foodpanda app. A new restaurant, Bap Bap Korean Rice Bowls is now offering hearty Korean rice bowls for delivery in Singapore!
New Cloud Kitchen Korean Restaurant
Bap Bap Korean Rice Bowls operates through a cloud kitchen, so they don’t have a physical store. You can get their food through delivery apps such as Grab and FoodPanda.
Fun fact: Bap Bap Korean Rice Bowls is from the same family of restaurants as Phat Fingers, a Korean burger brand we reviewed previously.
Bap Bap Korean Rice Bowls Menu
Bap Bap’s menu mainly consists of rice bowls with different proteins and a side menu with items like miso soup and fried dumplings (more on that later).
All the rice bowls come with edamame, corn, kimchi, furikake topping and 2 pieces of tamago egg roll. Generally, we found the portions for these toppings to be on the generous side.
Beef Bulgogi Rice Bowl
The Beef Bulgogi is stir-fried with onions and has a nice balance of sweet and salty flavours to it. The onions also help to add a nice crunchiness to the overall dish.
A pretty safe choice for those who don’t know what to get! We like to eat this like how you would eat bibimbap, mix everything and enjoy!
Braised Beef Rice Bowl
For the Braised Beef Rice Bowl, it came with a huge piece of braised beef, radish, and carrots – which is reminiscent of the Korean dish, galbijjim. While the texture of the beef isn’t fall-off-the-bone tender, it’s not tough and is still pretty easy to bite and chew.
Spicy Pork Rice Bowl
Perfect for those who want a bit of spice, the Spicy Pork Rice Bowl had quite a spicy kick to it, with red peppery notes and a tinge of sweetness towards the end of a bite.
Fried Chicken Chunks Rice Bowl
Bap Bap was really generous with the fried chicken chunks for this rice bowl. They were glazed in a soy garlic sauce that provided just the right amount of umami. Make sure to eat this once you get it for that crispy exterior experience.
Jang Uh Gui Grilled Eel Rice Bowl
The pieces of grilled eel (or unagi) had a beautiful glaze from the flavoursome marinade, which gave it just the right amount of sweetness.
We personally don’t like our unagi to be mushy, and we have to say that Bap Bap managed to cook the eel perfectly to a point where you can still chew it to savour the flavours.
Soy-Glazed Mushroom Rice Bowl
If you’re craving for something lighter, you can opt for the Soy-Glazed Mushroom Rice Bowl that’s topped with a lavish amount of grilled mushrooms. When mixed together, there was a nice combination of textures and flavours that’s not too overwhelming for the palate.
Crispy Pork and Vegetable Dumpling
Surprisingly, the dumplings were one of our favourite items from Bap Bap Korean Rice Bowls. They have a pork and vegetable filling with bits of glass noodles as most Korean dumplings do. Despite the delivery time, they remained crispy and had such a satisfying crunch when we bit into them.
Also, instead of the usual soy vinegar dip, the dumplings came with a soy garlic dip that made them taste even more umami, almost like eating Korean fried chicken!
