In this Bangkok hotel review, I share my experience at voco Bangkok Surawong, a 5-star hotel in Silom that focuses on comfort and relaxation instead of flashy luxury.
If you are wondering where to stay in Bangkok for a trip with friends or a couple getaway, this stay stood out for its easy atmosphere and thoughtful amenities.
What Is voco Bangkok Surawong?
voco Bangkok Surawong is a 5-star hotel in the Surawong district of Bangkok, Thailand.
Opened in December 2025, this is the first voco hotel property in Thailand, offering three room types and on-site amenities, designed to provide an unstuffy, comfortable stay.
The hotel lobby greets you with its vibrant yellow and blue hues, complete with two large installations of finches adorned with hand-woven hats.
The finch is one of three bird-themed hotel mascots – joined by the Owl and Flamingo – that represent a part of the flagship voco Bangkok Surawong experience.
This bird (Come on in) sets the tone with a welcome greeting, which was true for my experience!
The Owl (Me-Time) highlights their quality amenities, while the Flamingo (voco Life) focuses on the small, flavourful foodie options across the property.
I immediately felt welcome and relaxed, compared to the usual stiffness of other hotels.
The reception was prompt and personalised, with every guest receiving a welcome drink and snack in the form of a mango sticky rice cookie.
What Amenities Does voco Bangkok Surawong Have?
The hotel offers three room types: Deluxe (25 sqm), Grand Room (39 sqm) and One Bedroom Suite (50 sqm).
As of May 2026, the price range for a Deluxe room ranges from THB 3,420 to THB 3,870 (~SGD134 to SGD152) per night. Pricing is dependent on demand and supply.
Room amenities are comprehensive and include towels, shower gel, hairdryer, hygiene kit and dental kit.
The Deluxe rooms follow an open bathroom concept, which some might be particular about. There is a door that separates the shower and toilet area to keep them dry.
There are also hotel facilities to enjoy, such as:
- 24 hour fitness center
- Outdoor pool with shower
- Conference rooms
- Daily housekeeping
- Three on-site restaurants and eateries
My favourite had to be the pool, with its white marble-inspired tile and lush greenery making it super photoworthy!
It’s also a great spot for lounging in the evenings, along with one of the nicest outdoor showers I’ve seen.
Restaurants In voco Bangkok Surawong
There are three dining concepts in the hotel, starting with DECKLES Smokehouse.
The restaurant offers American-style food with Thai flair, with their signature item being the Smoked Brisket (from THB 590 for 200g) and the fiery Smoked Chicken Wings (THB 320, 7 pcs).
This doubles up as the hotel’s buffet breakfast.
It was a simple continental spread, with plenty of fruit, bakes and a hot food area with an omelette bar and noodle station.
I appreciated the Thai options too, like the chicken soup curry – spicy, tangy, coconutty but not too heavy to start the day.
The second is Tasco Sabio, a Spanish restaurant that has a presence in Singapore.
Their menu of classic tapas was impressive, with our favourites being the Pan Con Tomate (THB 195) and garlicky Gambas Pil Pil (THB 490).
They also have mains like the seafood-loaded Paella el Sabio (THB 1,290) and Josper-grilled Spanish Pork Collar (THB 690) that are good for sharing.
The Lobby Lounge in front of reception has a small menu of coffee (from THB 140), tea (THB 120) and savoury bites of sandwiches and croissants (from THB 139).
Review of voco Bangkok Surawong Room
I got to experience their limited-time Bangkok Escape Package.
This special experience is designed for guests to enjoy the stay at their own pace: unrushed, unstuffy and unbothered.
The package includes:
- A 3 day, 2 night stay for 2 people in a Deluxe room
- Daily buffet breakfast at DECKLES or the choice of breakfast in bed
- Late checkout until 2pm
- A special voco Experience Kit with themed gifts (more on that later!)

Stay In Grand Room
I was kindly given the chance to stay in their Grand Room.
Aside from its impressive 39 square meter space with a separate bathroom and dedicated sofa corner, I appreciated the relaxed ambience of the room.
The light wood, muted blue and modern industrial finishings made it feel airy and welcoming; something I noticed was consistent throughout the entire property.
It’s all in the details – down to the personalised greeting screen on the TV and the way the blankets aren’t tucked into the bed frame so it’s easier for guests to get into bed – that make the stay more pleasant than others I’ve been to.
Other room amenities included a stocked mini bar (additional charges apply), coffee machine with pods from Sarnies, umbrellas and even an ironing board.
The bathroom had a small bathtub and shower area, complete with Antipodes shower products that smell like eucalyptus and citrus alongside a vanity.
As part of the Bangkok Escape Package, guests will receive the voco Experience Kit to top off the experience:
- A welcome cocktail or mocktail for two at DECKLES Smokehouse
- A voco bathrobe embroidered with guests’ names, which they can take home
- A signature voco tote bag
- Shower steamers in scents like lavender and citrus for relaxing showers
- Lip moisturiser and hand cream by Antipodes
- Pillow mists by Antipodes
- A plush of the voco Bangkok Surawong mascot Owl
- voco Bangkok Surawong-themed colouring cards and colour pencils
These were small but fun additions, which cater to different ways people choose to unwind. I didn’t expect a whole bathrobe, but I appreciated it!
The emphasis on rest and relaxation is well-integrated into the experience, rather than something that requires planning or effort.
I indulged in a scented shower, lounged in the plush bathrobe and tried my hand at colouring. It made the stay a little more special, compared to the typical hotel.
I also opted for Breakfast In Bed (no extra charge) and really enjoyed the spread, with a full American-style breakfast, fresh fruit, bread and yoghurt.
It was my first time trying it and I liked it! There’s something special about enjoying food in peace, in your own private space, at your own pace; something I definitely recommend trying as part of the package.
What Is Near voco Bangkok Surawong?
voco Bangkok Surawong is within walking distance to three train stations: Sala Daeng BTS, Silom MRT and Samyan MRT.
The hotel is located opposite a long stretch of massage parlours, eateries and stores like 7-Eleven.
The Silmon area is also known for its vibrant nightlife, which you can explore by foot!
It’s also within 20 minutes of popular shopping malls like ICONSIAM, Siam Center, Siam Square, Central World and more.
What I Did In Bangkok
On my free day of exploring, I decided to revisit Bangkok’s popular shopping malls. It was a 10-minute walk to Sala Daeng BTS, which admittedly was a bit brutal in the sun.
Afterwards, it was a smooth sailing (and air-conditioned) trip to the popular shopping malls like ICONSIAM and Siam Centre.
I also visited Songwat, the trendiest neighbourhood in Bangkok.
It was about 20 minutes away by car, adjacent to the historical streets of Yaowarat (Bangkok’s Chinatown) and Talat Noi.
With its industrial vibes, aesthetic cafes and indie brands, Songwat is reminiscent of Seongsu in Korea. It’s artsy, filled with fun alleyways and located right by the iconic Chao Phraya river.
While I personally think shopping options are limited here, you can spend a whole afternoon here exploring the streets and taking pictures.
Verdict: Is voco Bangkok Surawong Worth It?
Yes, voco Bangkok Surawong is a hotel worth booking for your Bangkok trip. As far as 5 star hotels in Bangkok go, this feels approachable, modern and easy to enjoy without trying too hard. Between the comfortable rooms, shared amenities and convenient location, it is a hotel we would recommend for getaways and shorter stays.
