A trip to Korea usually means having to find temporary accommodation, and it usually comes in the form of hotels, guesthouses, or even Airbnbs. While we were browsing for places to stay in Korea, we came across STAYFOLIO and immediately fell in love with their aesthetic listings.
What is STAYFOLIO?
STAYFOLIO is an online platform started in Korea where anyone can book specially curated, high-quality places to stay. These places are not just your typical guesthouses or hotels but are places that come with a story and exceptional branding.
The platform works like most accommodation sites, where you can browse and look through the different listings before booking. But browsing on STAYFOLIO’s website is a treat to the eyes, with listings ranging from Hanok stays to gorgeous Jeju stays.
Clicking on the ‘Pick’ section allows you to read more about the particular stay and look through all the beautiful photos. Some even have a ‘Magazine’ section that includes in-depth interviews with the owners of the listing.
You can visit STAYFOLIO via this link and take a quick look at some of their listings.
Our Experience at STAYFOLIO, Nomore
To further understand what a STAYFOLIO experience entails, let us show you how one of our stays at STAYFOLIO looked like. During our trip to Korea when the VTL was first announced, we managed to book one of the stays unique to STAYFOLIO, named nomore (노모어).
The neighbourhood was the opposite of hipster, in a good way. While making our way to nomore through the neighbourhood alleys, we could get an idea of how life was in a local Korean estate, something you can’t experience in typical tourist sites.
Nomore consisted of two units, and we opted for nomore wander, which was located on the second floor. Checking in was easy, we simply needed to follow the instructions provided via email.
This was what greeted us when we opened the door.
Decked in wooden elements and beautiful off-white walls, nomore managed to feel warm and inviting while looking picture-perfect. There was also gentle background music playing when we entered, which made the place feel even more welcoming.
Walking in, we found our 2nd favourite spot (we’ll reveal our favourite spot shortly) which was the barstools by the window, which came with a view of the neighbourhood located right in front of the beautiful mountains.
Right beside was a shelf filled with some of the essentials one might need, such as towels, hairdryer, room slippers, and even perfume! The living space also came with an air purifier, a Samsung Frame TV, and Bluetooth speakers.
Moving on to the kitchen area, we loved how it was packed with bowls, plates, drinking cups, and glasses of different sizes. There was a Balmuda toaster where you can toast bread for breakfast, along with some coffee equipment for morning brews.
The kitchen also came with an induction stove which allowed the cooking of simple dishes like scrambled eggs or ramyeon.
The bathroom was split into wet and dry sections, with the sink located directly outside the shower area and bedroom. Amenities were from Frama’s Apothecary line, which featured notes of sandalwood, ylang ylang, and cedarwood.
Moving over to the bedroom, we were greeted by a lingering fragrant smell and cozy bedding. But the highlight and our favourite spot of nomore wander was this:
A flight of stairs from the bedroom leading up to your own private terrace with a bird’s eye view of Seodaemun. During sunset, the city takes on a golden glow and the terrace allows one to experience Seoul from a different angle.
Unique Stays in Korea
And that’s probably what STAYFOLIO is aiming for, allowing people to experience a never-seen-before side of Korea through their unique stays. From hanok stays hidden deep within alleys to modern apartments with unobstructed views of the Han River – STAYFOLIO provides hotel-quality comfort while being in a more hidden, environment.
Nomore is only 1 of the many stays available at STAYFOLIO, with many others including more unique experiences such as tea ceremonies and private hinoki baths.
