StyleupK is an online fashion website where you can easily get some of the hottest streetwear items in Korea directly delivered to you. We checked in with Chloe, the person behind StyleupK to learn more about the website.
1. Hi Chloe, could you please give us a quick introduction of yourself and StyleupK?
Hi! My name is Chloe and I’m a Singaporean entrepreneur in South Korea. I first came to Korea in Sep 2015 to learn Korean due to the influence of K-pop and my love for Girls’ Generation and I have been here since.
StyleupK is an online Korean fashion platform. It offers a one-time shipping fee for multiple fashion brands, with free shipping to Singapore at a min purchase of SGD100 currently. We strive to be the go-to Korean fashion platform for Singaporeans. We are constantly bringing onboard exciting Korean fashion brands, so do keep a lookout for it!
2. Why and How did you start StyleupK?
It was all based on serendipity. I love shopping in Korea, there are many good quality and nice design fashion items here. I was selling on Carousell to earn some extra income in Korea while I was studying here, and then somehow I got an opportunity.
While studying for my Masters in Korean translation at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, I got the opportunity to receive support from the Seoul Metropolitan Government to start a business. So, I turn my so-called hobby into a full-fledged business.
Korea has so many great designers and the fashion scene here is immense. With manufacturing companies located right here in Korea, clothing is of good quality and priced affordably.
Since people only know about the bigger brands like Marhen J, Fila, etc., I started StyleupK with a desire to share more about my knowledge about the Korean streetwear fashion industry.
3. What do you think are some of your more interesting listings on StyleupK?
They can get K-pop celebrity items fresh off the boat. For example, back in Jan, BlackPink wore some of AQO studio space’s items on “The Show”. There were customers who wanted them immediately, so they went through us for a hassle-free shopping experience.
Personally, I also think ROMANTIC CROWN is a great Korean fashion brand that not many Singaporeans know about yet.
4. What are your Top 3 Favourite items from StyleupK?
- Donkie Bucket Bag: I personally think it’s really suitable for a summer girl like me, it’s practical and it’s also quite an affordable item!
- Young Bridge Elva Sandal: These sandals are handmade using real leather. They are really comfortable and last long.
- CPGN Studio Laundry Line Stickman T-shirt: It has a nice drop shoulder oversized fit and the design is really cute as well! I wear it regularly for my K-pop dance sessions.
5. If you could describe StyleupK in 3 words
Trendy, Sincere, Helpful
It can be pretty difficult to find affordable, pretty, and trendy Korean fashion brands in Singapore. Shopping in Korea was like a fantasy to me. If you always head to Korea to shop, let us help you get the things you want especially during this Covid-19 pandemic since traveling to Korea might seem impossible.
