Our garden city, Singapore, has a huge variety of nature parks and reserves available for the public to choose from! In this article, we narrow down some of the hiking trails in Singapore for you that you’d definitely not want to miss!
Thomson Nature Park
This park offers 5 trails that span up to 3.8km. Thomson Nature Park holds a great deal of cultural value as it is a site of a former Hainan village. Relive the kampong days and experience the heritage highlights of the Hainan village as you walk through the trails.

Macritchie Reservoir Park
A part of the central catchment area, Macritchie Reservoir Park is one of the most well-known trails in Singapore. Experience wildlife and nature as you hike along the 20-kilometre network of trails and broad walks through the forest, home to a great variety of wildlife as well as many great spots.
Equip yourself with a pair of binoculars and a camera to participate and various other activities that this park offers such as birdwatching and nature photography. The well-known Treetop Walk is unfortunately closed for maintenance till May 2021.

Windsor Nature Park
This park features many unique trails for hiking where you can see some rare native plants and even some which are named after Singapore. There is also a unique sub-canopy walk where you will be able to see fauna that is usually found under the canopy level!
It is definitely an interesting place to hike or to get some exercise done. The park is also conveniently located near the Macritchie Reservoir Park.

Southern Ridges
The Southern Ridges is a 10km trail that connects 5 parks: Mount Faber Park, Telok Blangah Hill Park, HortPark, Kent Ridge Park and Labrador Nature Reserve.
This trail is well-known for the Henderson Waves, a unique structure over the trail that connects Mount Faber Park to Telok Banglah Hill Park. Its distinctive wave-like structure makes it a very instaworthy place where many people visit not only to trek but also take nice photos for the gram! You might even spot some monkeys when you’re there.

Keppel Hill Reservoir
This is for the urban explorers out there! Keppel Hill Reservoir is a recently rediscovered reservoir that has been unmarked and abandoned for over 60 years. The reservoir even dates as far back as 1905.
Remnants of the old reservoir still exist, as we heard that you’ll be able to find old concrete blocks and a broken diving board during your visit.
It is even rumoured to be haunted as there was drowning case of a 17-year-old boy in the reservoir back in March 1948. Any thrillseekers out there?

Mount Faber Park
Looking for a hike with great scenery? Hike your way to the top of Mount Faber Park and you’ll be greeted with a stunning view. Appreciate the heritage and historical value of this park as it is one of Singapore’s oldest park to date.
There is a mural wall that depicts scenes of local historical events at the top of the hill and it is also where the tree of the first Tree Planting Day stands.

Bukit Timah Nature Reserve
Home to Singapore’s tallest hill standing at 163m, hikers who are looking for a challenge can seek to conquer this hill. As you hike through the trails, you will be greeted by a great variety of plants, animals and insect life.
Bukit Timah Nature Reserve also has a high percentage of Singapore’s native flora and fauna as well, so you can expect to see some plants up close.

Hindhede Nature Park
Due to its rich diversity of flora and fauna, Hindhede nature park is often used as an outdoor classroom to learn about nature and wildlife. Try spotting some inhabitants of the park such as the Banded Woodpecker, Greater Racket-tailed Drongo and Plaintain Squirrel.
A great option if you’re intending to bring your kids along for some morning exercise!

The Green Corridor
Once a railway track, The Green Corridor has since been reused as a hiking trail instead and it also serves as a connector between several other parks, such as Bukit Timah and Kranji Wetlands. Remember to bring your camera along as there are many Instaworthy shots you can take along the railway!

Nearest MRT: King Albert Park MRT
Kranji Marshes
If you’re looking for wildlife and animals while you’re hiking, you’d definitely not want to miss out on Kranji Marshes.
Being one of the largest freshwater marshes in Singapore, it is home to unique biodiversity with a large variety species of birds, butterflies and dragonflies.
Remember to keep your volumes down during your visit to minimise the disturbance to the natural environment.

Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve
Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve is Singapore’s first ASEAN heritage park and home to a wide range of biodiversity. Explore some of its trails where you might be able to see some of the park’s natural inhabitants such as mudskippers, crabs and shellfish.
You might also be able to catch a glimpse of the migratory birds such as whimbrels, sandpipers and plovers. On a scarier note, there’s a possibility that you might encounter snakes or even a crocodile! Definitely a place for the animal lovers.

Nearest MRT: Kranji MRT
Coast to Coast (C2C) Trail
For those looking for a real challenge, try conquering the Coast to Coast trail!
It is a 36km trail filled with lush greenery that spans across parks across Singapore from the west to the northeast.
Do take note that there are some Temporary Closures
- A section of Ulu Pandan Park Connector (along C2C Checkpoint 1 to 2) from 23 March 2020 – 31 December 2020
- A section of Jurong Park Connector (along C2C Checkpoint 1) from December 2019 – June 2022 as well as a section of Ang Mo Kio Town Garden West (along C2C Checkpoint 5).
Hiking difficulty: Easy (Difficult if you intend to walk the whole 36km)
Nearest MRT: Lakeside MRT (starting point), Khatib MRT (endpoint)
