Have a taste of Michelin-recognised pasta right in Singapore with the opening of sio pasta! This restaurant in Raffles City is a casual concept of sioAOYAMA in Tokyo, which has been on the Michelin guide for 6 years since its opening in 2020.
sio pasta officially opens on 26 March 2026.
What is sio pasta?

sio pasta is a restaurant in Raffles City serving Japanese-style pasta. It is a concept by Michelin-recognised restaurant sioAOYAMA in Tokyo.
Helmed by Chef Shusaku Toba, the menu focuses on Japanese-style pasta with Italian flair.

The pastas are made fresh daily and feature premium produce from Japan, with prices starting at $13.80!
The space in Raffles City is small and can only sit up to 28 pax. However, it maintains an open kitchen concept, allowing you to watch the chefs work.
They currently do not accept reservations so we recommend coming early to avoid queues!

The signature item is the Japanese-style Pasta range. The flavour profiles are kept simple with only 3 or 4 toppings, but they infuse classic Japanese flavours.
Look forward to over 10 options, including:
- Cheesy Prosciutto & Asparagus ($18.80)
- Neapolitan Beyond Neapolitan ($13.80)
- Applewood Bacon & Spinach ($16.80)
There is a Monthly Best Pasta for seasonal flavours, and March’s special is The Best Mentaiko Pasta ($16.80) – more on that later!
The menu expands to sides like Japanese-style Fried Chicken ($4.80/$5.80) and Baguette with Fig Butter ($4.80) or Mentaiko Butter ($4.80).
They even offer Pizzas with toppings including Teriyaki Chicken with Cheese ($16.80) and Blue Cheese and Maple Syrup ($18.80).
What We Tried

I tried almost all the starters, beginning with the Baguette.
I tried both the Fig butter and Mentaiko butter, but between the two I enjoyed the Mentaiko more with its salty, umami flavour! The Fig butter was a pleasant sweet-salty mix for those who like that combo.

Their Plain Fried Chicken ($4.80) was a simple but well done karaage – crunchy batter with tender meat, though I wish the meat itself could be more seasoned.
Every order comes with one sauce from the choice of 5. Options include Classic Teriyaki ($4.80/chicken) and Yuzu Kosho Mayonnaise ($5.80/chicken). I recommend the Spicy Mentaiko!

I tried three pastas, starting with the famed Fried Egg, Cheese & Salted Kelp ($13.80).
It’s very simple – a slightly creamy sauce from the cheese with the oil and salt from the kelp to add flavour.

The pasta was also well-done. It held onto the sauce while retaining the perfect al dente bite!
However, I found the overall flavour too subtle and wished there was more kelp for a stronger taste.

The Best Mentaiko Pasta ($16.80) was the star for me. There was a rich saltiness from the generous amount of mentaiko, and it was somehow creamy with no cream!
Unfortunately, it’s limited-time, but they offer a Mentai Cream Carbonara ($16.80) version that’s permanent.
Something I appreciated was the generous portion size. You might expect tiny servings for the price but their bowls are big and can comfortably fill you up.

Another standout was the Pork Belly & Shimeji with Yuzu Kosho Butter ($16.80).
I was expecting it to be heavy and greasy but the citrus and spice cut through the fat, instead creating a moreish dish!
A small note if you’re looking for protein in your pasta: The menu is relatively meat-less and this is the one of the only pastas that has actual meat.

Bonus: You have to end with their Japanese-Style Pudding ($3.80). I wasn’t expecting much but this sweet treat surprised me!
With a thick, rich milk custard and slightly bitter caramelised sugar, this was the perfect not-too-sweet end to the meal.
Is sio pasta Worth It?
Yes, sio pasta is worth it. For the affordable price and refined flavours, this is one of the more value-for-money pastas in Singapore – especially for fresh made pasta! I foresee it being a popular lunch choice in the Raffles City area.
