Muro Coffee is a new cafe tucked into the second floor of a shophouse in Chinatown, with another outlet in Esplanade.
This cafe concept combines two great things: coffee and focaccia.
Sleek But Cosy
The space features an all-black interior but with stylish furniture for plenty of seating. Despite the dark colour palette, we found the space inviting and comfortable.
A small side note: We really liked the music, they had a great playlist! They even have vinyl record players on display.
The counter also has a pastry display and you can watch the baristas at work.
Muro Coffe Menu
The coffee menu offers the classics like Black (from $5) and White (from $6), with three signature drinks: Dirty Matcha (from $7.50), Orange Tonic Espresso ($8.50) and Smoked Mocha Affogato ($9.50).
They have non-coffee options like Chocolate (from $6) and artisanal tea (from $5).
Their focaccia menu presents five sandwiches, ranging from the Pastrami Affair ($17.90) with beef pastrami and Russian dressing to the Mad Cheese ($16.90) with three cheese and maple syrup glaze.
They also offer bakes like Butter Croissant ($4.50) and Earl Grey Pound Cake ($6).
The Full Foc
We tried The Full Foc ($18.90), stacked with beef jerky, chicken chipolata sausage and a fried egg. It was visually appealing with a melted slice of cheese and layers of ingredients!
For a focaccia speciality place, their bread was well done! It was crisp but fluffy, dense enough to hold up the savoury toppings.
The combination of meats and egg made the sandwich hearty and satisfying.
Coffee
For drinks, we tried the Tiramisu Latte and Dirty Matcha.
The Tiramisu Latte had a strong coffee base, but the sweet cream topping contrasted nicely.
We found the Dirty Matcha unmemorable, leaning too much on the bitter side for our taste without a notable flavour.
The Brownie ($4.50) surprised us and we recommend ordering it! It was fudgy and chocolatey but not too sweet.
Aesthetic Cafe In Chinatown
With its calm atmosphere and satisfying focaccia offerings, Moru Coffee is a good space for gatherings with friends to chat over coffee and sandwiches!
