Little Farms Bistro in Joo Chiat presents a new mainstay menu of woodfire grilled items, alongside a limited-time menu item with Chef Sam Chablani! All their ingredients are sourced and found in Little Farms Grocer; prepared with an Asian-Western fusion.
Little Farms Bistro Grill Menu
The menu features both new items and refreshed dishes. There are two types – small sharing plates and mains.
Options for sharing plates include Cured Salmon Tartare ($12) and Wood Fired Veggies ($12) or you can try classic items like Buttermilk Bostock Fried Chicken ($16) or Baked Camembert ($20).
For mains, there’s the O’Connor Grass-fed Beef Prime Cuts (from $42) in Striploin, Tenderloin and Ribeye cooked over the grill. Non-beef selections include Thai Style Organic BBQ Chicken ($30 for half) and Roaring Forties Lamb Cutlets ($42 for 250g).
Prawn & Bourbon Bisque
The first new addition is the Prawn & Bourbon Bisque ($14) topped with puffed quinoa. This was thick and rich with prawn flavour, to the point it may be a bit overwhelming for some.
The smokiness of the bourbon lingered at the end and had a bit of bitterness but complexity to the soup.
Small Plates
For small plates, we first tried the Cured Salmon Tartare ($12). It was served atop a charred wawa cabbage and garnished with caviar.
This combination of flavours was refreshing, smokey and tangy, which really whet our appetites! The added char intensified the sweetness of the cabbage which complemented the fresh tartare.
Then there was the Grilled Portobello Mushroom Bruschetta ($12) and Wood Fired Veggies ($12). The bruschetta was a memorable dish, made with a base of crispy grilled tau pok squares. There was a crunch from the tau pok and meatiness from the mushrooms, which was just a tad bit spicy.
The BBQ Pork Neck ($14) had a deep umami flavour, with tender meat and an enjoyable fattiness. It’s marinated in fish sauce and then brined for 1.5 hours after grilling! The accompanying pickled garlic and vegetables also cut through the fat and added a nice tang.
The Smokey Tamarind Glazed Grilled Octopus ($16) was well-prepared, with a super tender bite and pleasant sweetness from the tamarind glaze. It complemented the flavour of the octopus without overwhelming it.
Umami Butter Chicken Piccata
For mains, we started with the Umami Butter Chicken Piccata ($28), which is a limited-time menu with Chef Sam Chablani! It features a creamy sauce made with his famous Umami Butter drizzled over a fried chicken cutlet and Colcannon mash.
This dish was one of our favourites! The addictive creamy sauce was savoury from the umami butter, complementing the breaded chicken and buttery mash. Despite its large size, the chicken was still juicy and tender – perfect for dipping into the sauce.

O’Connor Grass-fed Ribeye
No grill menu is complete without steak! We tried the O’Connor Grass-fed Ribeye ($53 for 300g) served with roasted potatoes, Bearnaise sauce and red wing sauce. The char on the meat was enough to whet our appetites.
The meat had a clean beef flavour without any gaminess, plus a great smokiness from the grill. Unfortunately, it was quite tough when we tried it and we feedbacked it to the kitchen team. Nevertheless, the meat quality was high and the side sauces really elevated the dish!
Thai Style Organic BBQ Chicken
The Thai Style Organic BBQ Chicken ($30/half chicken) was sizeable despite being only half a chicken! It came with a bright turmeric seasoning and Thai chilli dipping sauce.
The meat was juicy and tender with a nice fragrance from the Thai marinade, including lemongrass and ginger. We think the seasoning could be stronger, or have more umami, for an extra punch!
Roaring Forties Lamb Cutlets
The Roaring Forties Lamb Cutlets ($42 for 250g) were also well-executed! The meat was tender without being overwhelmingly gamey, which paired very well with their homemade mint sauce.
It was served on a bed of eggplant baba ganoush, adding a fragrant savoury component to balance out the meat.
Desserts
To finish the meal, we had the Black Sesame Opera ($12) and Yakult Peach Mousse ($10). We liked the Black Sesame Opera, with the sesame cream adding a unique fragrance to the classic dessert.
The Yakult Peach Mousse fell a bit flat for us as there was no distinctive taste of either Yakult or peach. While it was light and we liked the vanilla cream garnish, it could definitely do with a stronger flavour!

With the selection of fresh and organic ingredients, the new grill menu at Little Farms Bistro elevates flavour profiles with extra smokiness. The small plates are great for sharing and the mains can easily feed 2 to 3 people for a nice gathering!
