With the rising cost of living, it can be close to impossible to find a meal under $10. However, we’ve found a strong contender: Le Ma Dumpling!
The dumpling and noodle restaurant offers items from as low as $3.95, providing a value-for-money meal.
Restaurant In Jewel Changi Airport
The small corner eatery is in Jewel Changi Airport, right by the Rain Vortex. It has a simple, bright orange aesthetic and can accommodate both solo diners and families.
There’s a self-service corner with complimentary soy bean milk and water chestnut drink. Yeap – You get free-flow drinks with your food too!
Le Ma Dumpling Menu
The menu focuses on Taiwanese-style comfort foods: dumplings and noodles. The dumplings are available in six flavours and can be prepared boiled or pan-fried.
We were seriously impressed by the prices! Nothing in the menu is above $9.90, making it one of the affordable restaurant meals we’ve seen in Singapore.
Prices for dumplings are $3.95 (5pcs) for Pork (with corn, chive or cabbage) and $4.95 (5 pcs) for Prawn (with corn, chive or cabbage). The minimum order is two portions, and you can mix flavours between portions.
Every dumpling is stuffed with 28 grams of filling, making it a hefty one. We tried all the flavours and recommend the Prawn with Corn and Pork with Chive.
At under $5 per portion, these were juicy and well-seasoned! It felt like a hearty, comforting meal.
Round off the meal with mains like Stir-fried Noodle with Diced Chicken ($7.90) or Ham Egg Fried Rice ($7.90), and add on sides like the Crispy Golden Tofu ($2.60) or Crispy Chicken ($6.50).
The Signature Dan Dan Noodle ($7.90) was also impressive, with thick, chewy noodles and a spicy, meaty sauce. We couldn’t believe it was under $9!
However, we felt the Shrimp Egg Fried Rice ($8.50) was a bit lacklustre and could do with stronger seasoning.
Affordable Meals In Singapore
Le Ma Dumpling provided a hearty and satisfying meal that’s value-for-money! Although there is currently only one outlet at the airport, there are plans to expand this year. Hopefully, there will be outlets near you.
