With 2 outlets in Singapore – Tanjong Pagar and Orchard, Equate is celebrating their 1-year anniversary! They have teamed up with Bishoku to feature mains infused with truffle aioli and mentaiko mayo.
There’s also a unique spin-off from their best-selling croissants and sandos, to be best paired with their range of artisanal coffee.
Nature-Inspired, Industrial Aesthetic
Exuding a relaxed vibe, Equate’s interior is surrounded by uprooted trees and plants. Complementing this is the stone-textured walls and silver chairs, which add a minimalist industrial feel to the space!
Equate Menu
Equate boasts a diverse beverage menu, featuring coffee options such as Filter Coffee and Cold Brew, along with Matcha varieties including Dirty Matcha ($8) and Yuzu Matcha ($7.80), a refreshing blend with a sparkling sensation and yuzu citrus peel.
The menu offers choices like Cajun Prawn Pasta ($14.80) and Fisherman Curry with Sourdough ($22.80), available from 11 am. There’s also a breakfast selection, ranging from Croissant French Toast ($12.90) to local favourites like Kaya Toast ($6.80).
With quite a selection of pastries, you can find Cinnamon Rolls ($5.80), Hazelnut Chocolatine ($7.80), and Ondeh ($7.80)!
Equate x Bishoku Mains
Har Cheong Gai Sando
We tried the Har Cheong Gai Sando ($17.80) complemented with mentaiko mayo. The chicken was succulent and boasted a rich umami taste, though we felt that the chicken could do with more crisp and a tad bit less salt.
Urban Cream
The Urban Cream ($20.80) is a linguine pasta dish featuring a creamy mentaiko sauce that wasn’t too jelak! While the dish was enjoyable, more salt could have been added to elevate the flavours.
Truffle Mash Ball
The Truffle Mash Ball ($8.80) quickly became a favourite of ours, with its addictive taste drawing us back for more. With a pronounced truffle essence and a topping of truffle aioli, the flavours were perfectly balanced, making each bite enjoyable without being overwhelming!
Desserts
Croffle Ensemble
We tried the Earl Grey Cream topped with Grapes for the Croffle Ensemble ($10.90). The Earl Grey cream was generously layered, providing a light yet distinct flavour that paired well with the grapes, adding a delightful sweetness.
Burnt Butter Shokupan
The Burnt Butter Shokupan ($15.90) is a dessert we highly recommend! The shokupan has a soft and buttery inside, complemented by a slightly sweet, crispy outer layer.
We topped ours with Bacio Dark Chocolate Gelato and Hazelnut Chocolate Cream, which instantly brought to mind the familiar taste of Ferrero Rocher. Despite all the toppings, this dish wasn’t too sweet! It’s a dessert that would pair well with a cup of coffee.
Crust Cove
The Crust Cove ($14.90) are croissants served in varied flavours. We tried the Yoghurt Raspberry Gelato topped with Strawberries that had a tangy flavour which complemented the strawberries well. However, we found ourselves wishing that the strawberries had a bit more sweetness to them.
Coffee Cruffin
Coffee lovers, this one’s for you! The Coffee Cruffin ($9.90) has cruffin nestled between layers of ice cream and features a robust coffee flavour in a soft serve made from Equate’s house blend beans.
The best way to enjoy this is to have the cruffin together with the soft serve, as it perfectly balances the coffee gelato’s bitterness.
Bake Boxes for Sharing
For those planning a gathering with friends, Equate offers Bake Boxes that are perfect for sharing. You can choose from Mini Croissants ($25.80), available in delectable flavours like Bacon & Cheese and Mentaiko Mayo, or opt for Mini Tarts ($12.80) in delightful varieties such as Yuzu Lemon and Matcha.
