Located in Duxton Hill, Cloud is the latest cafe in the Maxwell/Tanjong Pagar neighbourhood. Taking over Marvx Coffee, the space has been transformed into a minimalist dreamy cafe with an eye-catching cloud ceiling installation.
Cloud Cafe in Duxton
Mainly decked in shades of grey from concrete elements, the cafe had a sleek, minimalist industrial vibe to it. The warm lighting helped to make the place feel cozier and more welcoming. However, the main attraction at Cloud is undoubtedly the cloud-looking installation.
Made of paper, there’s one near the entrance of the cafe, and another mini cloud in the middle of the cafe, which hung right below a glass covering that allowed natural light in.
There are a couple of tables, which allow up to teams of 4 to 5, and smaller tables that take up to teams of 2 to 3. The space is also fully utilized with the addition of stools to allow more customers into the cafe.
This made sense because Cloud doesn’t have an extensive menu of dine-in food and most people are here for a quick coffee break.
Cloud Cafe Duxton Menu
Here at Cloud Cafe, you’ll find a simple menu featuring espresso-based drinks in short and tall options. They both feature double shots of espresso, but if you prefer something milkier, the tall option is the one to go for.
You’ll find items like Black ($5.5), White ($5.5/$6), and Mocha ($6/$6.5) with oat and soymilk options.
They also have fresh bakes, which are displayed at the counter. Types of bakes are available depending on the day and time you visit the cafe. For example, when we visited, there were only 5 types of bakes on display.
Among the 5 bakes we tried, we absolutely adored the Brownie with Miso Caramel ($6). The brownie had a crumbly exterior that could be felt immediately when cut into, which paired well with the moist center. The combination of dense chocolate with the miso caramel was divine, with the saltiness of the miso adding a nice touch to the overall bake.
The Apple Crumble ($6) on the other hand did not wow us as much, there wasn’t a distinct apple taste to it, and had a heavy flour taste to it.
We also tried the Banana Kek ($5) which seemed to be slightly on the drier side, but the overall bread had a nice, pleasant banana fragrance to it.
The Strawberry Lemon Cake ($5) featured a moist and crumbly lemon cake glazed with a layer of strawberry on the outside. It was a nice balance of sweet and sour flavours!
Finally, the highlight of our visit was the Choco Chip Cookie with Sea Salt priced unbelievably at $2. Cloud Cafe, if you’re seeing this, we are begging you not to increase the price of this heavenly cookie.
The chewy texture of the cookie paired with the slightly melted chocolate chunks proved to be a made-in-the-clouds combination. A simple treat that was done perfectly, with a value-for-money price point!
We washed everything down with an Iced White ($7), which was a nutty and robust cup of coffee. The Iced Mocha ($7.5) seemed to use unsweetened chocolate which highlighted the acidity of the coffee making it feel slightly sourer than our Iced White.
New Cafe Near Tanjong Pagar
Cloud not only attracted us with its unique cloud-themed interior, but the bakes proved to be of good quality. With good cuppas and small bakes, the cafe is a great addition to the neighbourhood, and is perfect for those wanting a nice spot to chill or wanting a caffeine recharge.
