Cafe Paletscent is a cafe in Suwon with a view of Janganmun Gate, which is the northern and main gate of the Hwaseong Fortress. If you’re strolling along the fortress and need a quick coffee break, Cafe Paletscent is a great spot because of its location, and photo-worthy views!
Instagram-worthy Cafe in Suwon
Cafe Paletscent is located on the 2nd floor of a building right opposite the Janganmun Gate. Once you climb up the stairs, you’ll be greeted by the fresh smell of bakes and coffee.
The 2nd floor is a great spot to view the Janganmun Gate through glass windows on days where it’s too cold to head to the rooftop. However, if you want to take photos with the Janganmun Gate as the backdrop, the rooftop is your best choice.
Do note that the stairs up are quite steep, so make sure to be careful when heading up.
Menu at Cafe Paletscent Suwon
The Suwon Cafe serves coffee, tea, and ade, with interesting non-coffee drinks like Yellow Latte (5,500won) and a Melt Cheese Latte (6,000won).
There are also scones in various flavours, Plain (3,500won), Choco Chip (4,000won), Apple Cinnamon Jam (4,000won), and Apricot Jam (4,000won).
Black Sesame Cream Latte
We had the Black Sesame Cream Latte (5,500won) which was only available Iced. On top of a latte was a dollop of black sesame cream. It had a strong sesame flavour, was nutty and smooth. Like how you would drink an einspanner, we recommend not mixing it to get the best of both the cream and coffee.
Also, if you’re intending to sit on the rooftop, do note that the drinks will come in a takeout cup. If you have it level 2, the drinks come in a beautiful glass cup. Something to take note of for those taking photos.
Americano
We also got an Iced Americano (4,500won), which had a stronger coffee kick compared to the usual cafes in Korea. The good thing is you can wait for the ice to melt and enjoy the drink for a longer time.

Cafe Paletscent makes a great photo spot for visitors heading to Suwon. If you’re heading on a day with clear blue skies, your photos will turn out even better!
