ANTO Pizza E Aperitivi is the latest pizza restaurant to open in Singapore, with an 80-seater located along Jiak Chuan Road within a heritage shophouse. The space offers up both indoor and alfresco seating, along with a cocktail bar.
Authentic Italian Pizzas in Singapore
The restaurant is helmed by Master Pizzaiolo Antonio Brancato and Hong Kong-based Bartender/Entrepreneur Giancarlo Mancino.
Apart from having 16 years of pizza-making experience, Antonio also uses Molino Dallagiovanna flour from North Italy proofed for 24 hours, with results in a light dough. The tomato base here is also made using fresh Italian tomatoes that are seasoned, stewed and hand-crushed.
They serves up pizzas in 3 styles:
- In Teglia: a common style of pizza found in South Italy, involving a small pan and 10-to-12-minute cooking time at over 250 degrees C.
- Le Antonio: pizzas from this section feature Chef Antonio’s amazing & creative creations
- Classic Pizzas: Pizzas here are cooked in ultra-high 480 degrees C heat for 90 seconds.
Menu at ANTO Pizza E Aperitivi
You’ll find a blend of familiar flavours and lesser-seen pizza combinations here. However, the menu here has quite a few vegan and vegetarian options available, catering to all the vegan and vegetarian friends out there.
Classic Pizza options include 4 Formaggi ($38), Parma ($38), Margherita ($26) and more. They also have starters such as Grana Padano Balls ($18) and Frittelle AOP ($18) alongside Cold Cuts, Cheeses Selection and Focaccia Barese ($40).
Here are some of the items we tried:
For appetisers, we tried 2 variations of sourdough Bruschette. First was the Classic ($16), topped with oven-baked tomatoes, garlic olive oil and basil. We loved the sweet tomatoes and flavour combination in this one.
The second one was the Cetara ($20), which is topped with a hefty portion of lemon zest butter, Cetara anchovies and caper flowers. While we appreciated the creaminess of the lemon zest butter, we did feel that there was too much of it. However, the flavours were good.
From the In Teglia menu, we tried Rocco ($24) – a pizza with just three ingredients: mozzarella, potatoes and fresh rosemary. We loved the texture of this, gently puffed and fluffy in the middle with a nice crisp on the top and bottom.
For classics, we tried the Caponata ($36). This vegan pizza features mixed vegetables marinated with white wine vinegar and sugar, along with a homemade onion puree using alife onions from South Italy. This was one of the more unique pizzas, featuring a nice subtle sweet flavour from the vegetables.
One of our favourite pizzas for the night was the Melanzana ($38). This was unexpected even for us because the main ingredient in this is eggplant. The pizza features an aubergine puree, alongside oven-baked eggplants, smoked Scarmorza cheese, mint and pepperoncino oil.
The Rustica ($38) was also a close contender. A pizza made with tomato sauce, salsiccia fresca, smoked Scarmorza cheese, radicchio and rosemary. The bits of fresh fennel pork sausage in this really add a burst of flavour to each bite!
For desserts, ANTO serves up various items such as an eggless Tiramisu ($15), Classic Panettone ($20) and a Margherita Dolce Fried ($22).
Cocktails For Your Pizzas
The cocktail menu ranges from classics with a twist, negronis to even spritzers and Asporto (which means to-go, in a can).
The one to try is the Pineapple Pizza Negroni ($25) made with Big Kahuna Pineapple Gin, a ham & tomato bitter, and Mancino Vermouth Bianco. The drink is also topped with a freeze-dried mozzarella, which adds a nice pizza element.
There are other drinks to choose from such as the Birra Americano ($25), Pesca ($25) and Dry Martini 2024 ($25).
