There’s a new spot in Telok Ayer to satisfy your KBBQ cravings – Ajoomma Korean Charcoal BBQ! The restaurant is located along Gemill Lane and offers a quintessential charcoal BBQ experience, complete with a special menu of lobster dishes.
Clean & Modern Interior
The restaurant has a simple but comfortable interior, decorated with traditional Korean paintings on the walls. We noticed there wasn’t a strong charcoal or BBQ smell, which we greatly appreciated.
A special part of the restaurant is the second floor – it has two private rooms, each equipped with its own karaoke system! They can be booked up till 1am which is perfect for special celebrations.
Ajoomma Korean Charcoal BBQ Menu
They have an extensive menu of meat cuts for BBQ ranging from beef to pork and even lamb. Choose from US Prime Ribeye ($60/150g), Sanchoku Australian Wagyu 350 Day Grain Fed MBS 8/9 Striploin ($85/150g) or Iberico Pork Belly ($28/150g).
For something simple, you can also opt for the Beef ($105) or Pork ($66) Ajooma Signature Sets, each with 3 different cuts of meat. Each set also comes with Kimchi Soup and Soybean Paste Soup.
Something unique they offer is a lobster menu! Every Tuesday to Thursday, enjoy 50% off their lobster dishes after 5pm – a pretty good deal if you ask us. There are 4 preparations to choose from: Lobster Thermidor, Sashimi, Shabu and BBQ.
There’s also a selection of sides ranging from Vongole ($32), clams steamed with a creamy miso sake sauce to Burrata ($32) salad! KBBQ classics like Seafood Pancake ($32) and Gyeranjjim ($14) are also available.
Lobster Thermidor
We tried the Lobster Thermidor ($85), essentially a baked lobster dish. It was quite a sizeable lobster; packed with mushrooms and onions! The savoury cheese and creamy bechamel paired well with the bouncy lobster meat, making it quite a satisfying dish.

KBBQ Meat Cuts
The BBQ kicked off with the Miyazaki A4 Wagyu 2MM Short Rib ($70/150g), presented in thinly-sliced rolls. This was our favourite cut, with a great fattiness and beefy flavour, further amplified by the smokiness of the charcoal!
The Westholme Australian Wagyu MBS 8/9 Ribeye ($85/150g) had an impressive marbling and a rich flavour, though we recommend cooking it to a medium rare for the best experience.
Pork lovers will appreciate the 2MM Pork Belly ($28/150g) and special Sous Vide With Thyme Pork Jowl ($39/150g), both boasting a clean porky flavour.
Side Dishes
The Truffle Steamed Egg ($16) came with a glorious bubbling dome, with a fluffy texture. We think it can do with a stronger truffle flavour.
We enjoyed the richness of the Soybean Paste Soup ($20) with seafood! Despite being on the watery side, it had the enjoyable saltiness that cut through the rich meats.
