GV Katong: More Than Just Movies, Will Have Esports Events, Live Screening of Concerts & Musicals

The newly revamped GV Katong will be more than just a cinema. It will be a multiplex where you can catch the latest blockbusters, watch live screenings of concerts in one auditorium, compete in esports competitions in another or even attend conferences and virtual meetings.

GV Katong will take on an integrated entertainment and lifestyle hub concept, where patrons can experience More Than Just A Movie.

The revamped GV Katong is equipped to host a wide variety of events such as:

GV LIVE – screening of live and in-person concert performances, music as well as entertainment events
Esports – gamers can take part in esports events and competitions
Art – Dedicated lineup of exclusive thematic art exhibits in collaboration with various art galleries with emerging and established artists
Alternative content – Specially-curated compelling content such as screening of interactive movies, independent films and increasingly popular anime movies

Phantom: The Musical Film

To kickstart the new GV LIVE offerings, you can now watch Phantom: The Musical Film at GV Katong! The film stars world-famous soprano Sunhae Im, renowned ballerina Joowon Kim and Super Junior’s main vocalist Kyuhyun as The Phantom.

Unlike Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera, PHANTOM includes more ballet scenes to make it more visually appealing and also features different songs.

It was our first time watching a musical in the cinema, and we were impressed with how everything was filmed and presented. Halfway through the show, there was even a short intermission period, which made it feel like we were at an actual musical performance!

The best thing about this was no matter where you’re seated, you get close-up views of the stage and can view the expressions of the cast in detail.

Also, there were limited-edition tickets for this special musical film, which looked gorgeous!

GV Gallery

After watching the movies, you can also head over to Golden Village’s first-ever art gallery! For now, the works of artist Billy Ma are on display and available for purchase on GV’s website.

GV Katong Gold Class

There are also 2 gold-class auditoriums at GV Katong, fitted with the Barcelona ultra-luxurious Nappa leather seats. Each seat is fully-contoured and comes with a fully-adjustable footrest and backrest with a built-in USB charging point for extra convenience and comfort.

There’s also a new personal side table for patrons to be served snacks and drinks, which is exclusive to GV Katong Gold Class.
