Tofu gelato might not be the first dessert to mind when you think sweet treats, but we’re here to convince you otherwise! Tofu G, a Korean-inspired tofu gelato brand, is having a pop-up in Orchard for you to sample their offerings.
Tofu G Flavours
The pop-up space is reminiscent of those in Seongsu, with visible Korean aesthetics and full wood decor.
For the uninitiated, tofu gelato (Soondubu gelato) is a speciality of Gangneung, a city in Korea known for its tofu products!
There are six flavours available: Original, Black Sesame, Sweet Potato, Chodang Sweet Corn, Pistachio and High Protein. It’s priced at $8 per scoop for all flavours. You can also get a Soft Serve ($7) version of their Original flavour.

We were pleasantly surprised by the Original. It had a thick, stretchy texture of traditional gelato without the prominent soybean taste some might dislike.
It was also not too sweet for us, making it a pleasant treat that wasn’t burdensome.
If you’re curious, the High Protein version tasted like an intense version of the Original. It was also denser and felt almost like a meal replacement. A fun way to sneak in your macros into dessert!
Of the flavours, our picks are the Black Sesame and Chodang Sweet Corn! The Black Sesame was incredibly fragrant and concentrated with a natural sesame flavour, but some might find it too sweet after a while.
The Chodang Sweet Corn reminded us of potong ice cream with bits of sweet corn. We found the Sweet Potato a bit too artificial and the Pistachio nutty but not exactly pistachio-flavoured.
If this is your first time trying, we recommend getting the Original or Black Sesame!
Korean Gelato In SG
Tofu gelato makes for a relatively light and guilt-free dessert option in Orchard, on top of a nice picture spot. While this is limited-time, Tofu G will be opening a flagship store in Telok Ayer soon so keep an eye out for that!
