i Light Singapore 2025 has returned in conjunction with Gastrobeats! In celebration of SG60, the festival is anchored on the theme ‘To Gather’, inviting all to come together to enjoy new experiences.
Happening from 29 May to 21 June across Marina Bay, South Beach, and for the first time ever – Singapore River and Raffles Place. Admission is free.
Marina Bay Installations
Fantastic Planet – What’s That was created by Australian artist Amanda Parer. There are three different glowing humanoid figures in different poses around corners of the waterfront promenade, and their size flips our sense of scale.
One of our favourite artworks, Embrace by Australian artist Beamhacker features life-sized silhouettes inspired by children’s paper chains. These silhouettes come alive through human touch.
When every silhouette is physically connected through a chain of people touching each figure, the artwork transforms into a symphony of lights and sound.
It was magical seeing everyone come together to bring the artwork to life.

Another highlight at Marina Bay is the artwork Sign, by Vendel & de Wolf from The Netherlands.
It’s a display of flames dancing in the air, and was eye-catching even from afar.
When you step closer, you’ll realise they’re bamboo poles covered with reflective aluminium tape to reflect light.
Singapore River Installations
Bridge of 1,000 Dreams was created by Studio Toer from The Netherlands. Located at Cavenagh Bridge, a thousand bamboo sticks are decorated with Singapore motifs created by local design studio Binary Style, and are used to shape the corridor of the bridge.
This artwork will be extended till 20 July 2025.
Reverse Waterfall was created by UxU Studio from Taiwan. Thousands of LED tubes are hand-arranged in vertical patterns to create the likeness of falling water, but as you approach, you’ll realise the light starts flowing upwards!
This artwork will be extended till 20 July 2025.
South Beach Installations
Saulux by SPLACES. Studio from Malta was another one of our favourite installations.
The stems respond to human touch and light up with physical contact. We even got to see the artist interact with the installation, which made it all the more special.
This is Not a Screen was made by our local university students from the National University of Singapore. Using polarised screens recycled from devices, this interactive artwork allows you to alter the light by turning the screens.
No two people will see the same image. It makes you rethink how our devices alter our perception of reality.
Bonus: GastroBeats 2025
GastroBeats will also be happening in conjunction with i Light from 29 May to 22 June. There are over 40 food stores and even a diner-themed photo booth popup by Solace Studio!

Overall, we really enjoyed the installations, and it made us think a lot about the future, different perspectives, and what togetherness means. This is definitely worth the visit if you’re in the area!
