After their collaboration with Michelin-starred restaurant Khao, PARKROYAL is back with another international partnership! This time, Peppermint at PARKROYAL Collection Marina Bay is hosting a halal Taiwanese buffet happening until 12 November 2023.
Taste Of Taiwan Buffet
The buffet is a collaboration with Chef Alan Ho, the newly appointed President of Taiwan Chefs Association, so the repertoire encompasses his expertise in Taiwanese cuisine.
There will be over 40 dishes available on rotation, so there’s something different everyday! Items you can look forward to include Taiwanese night market snacks like Flamed Charred Marbling Beef, Egg Pancake with Chicken Floss and Grilled King Shitake.
When we were there, the noodle station has been transformed to serve beef noodles! There’s also Taiwanese Braised Rice with chicken and Taiwanese Chicken Pearl Rice.
The Braised Meat Rice was quite flavourful with a savoury gravy and paired well with the rice. We enjoyed the tender beef chunks in the beef noodles but think the broth could be more concentrated for a punchier flavour.
The heartier items include Taiwanese aboriginal tribe cuisine like Tribal-Style Roast Chicken and Roasted Whole Lamb Leg!
They also offer iconic desserts like Brown Sugar Soy Milk with Mochi and Aiyu Jelly with Lime. When we went there was a whole dessert set-up and it was fun to mix and match our desserts.
Cai Po Lobster
There are also a la carte items available to order, like Cai Po Lobster. We liked the savoury bite from the cai po, though the lobster was a tad overcooked and chewy.
Chicken soup with clams and green pepper
The soup was warm, hearty with a nice amount of clams! We liked the slight kick from the green pepper that complemented the sweetness of the meat.
Angus Beef Gua Bao
You can also try the Angus Beef Gua Bao, with a thick piece of braised beef and pickled greens. The meat was fall apart tender with a deep soy sauce flavour but the saltiness from the pickled greens overpowered the meat.
