Yang Ming Seafood has earned its reputation for its fresh seafood dishes, garnering visits from celebrities like Wakin Chau and James Cheng! Their second outlet in Ubi has just passed its two-year anniversary and they’re celebrating with a selection of outlet-exclusive dishes!
Yang Ming Seafood Menu
Yang Ming Seafood has a wide variety of dishes and live seafood at reasonable prices. They feature unique flavours like Salted Baked Crabs and Pumpkin Cream Crab, along with classic zi char favourites such as Curry Fish Head and Cereal Prawns!
There are 4 new Ubi-exclusive menu items:
Umami Crab Paofan
The Umami Crab Seafood Paofan ($138) is a must-order dish at Yang Ming Seafood. Served in a claypot bowl brimming with thick, umami-rich soup, it definitely warmed the stomach. The fried paofan added a nice crunchy texture!
The crabs were fresh and sweet, and each pot can generously serve up to 8 pax.
Chao Tah Pig Trotter CCF
Reminding us of a plate of comforting Fried Kway Teow was the Chao Tah Pig Trotter CCF ($25). This dish features their chee cheong fun, stir-fried with pig trotter to achieve a smoky, ‘chaotah’ texture.
There was a subtle sweetness and no gameiness from the pig trotter. We liked the slight crisp on the outside and the soft noodles.
Golden Gravy Crab CCF
The Golden Gravy Crab CCF ($100/per kg, Sri Lanka Crab) offers a subtle flavour and it’s served on a bed of soft Chee Cheong Fun. However, we wished that the sauce had a stronger seafood flavour!
Dry Shrimp Vegetables
The Dry Shrimp Vegetables ($25) were cooked to a satisfying crunch, with the added shrimps giving a pleasant salty bite.
Classic Yang Ming Seafood
The Pig Stomach Chicken Soup ($78) stood out as a unique dish, featuring an entire chicken wrapped in a pig stomach.
The soup boasts a robust peppery flavour that’s truly enjoyable, complemented by the clean, soft texture of the pig stomach. The chicken itself was tender and had a mild sweetness to it!
One of our favourite dishes was the Andrew Lobster ($108 for 2pcs), named after a customer whose idea inspired this creation. The lobster was perfectly cooked, with an aromatic garlic sauce that complemented the chee cheong fun.
The Salt & Pepper Prawns ($60/1kg) were impressively large and packed with succulent meat. Seasoned with a perfect blend of salt and pepper, each prawn was bursting with flavour. This is a must try dish!
Coated in a thin batter, the Fried Sotong ($20/$30) remains crispy even after sitting out for a while and can be savoured on its own or with a dab of mayo. The “sotong” itself was fresh, with a tender texture.
In contrast, the Steamed Baby Sotong ($20/$30) was served simply with a soy-based housemade sauce. Each bite was bouncy and fresh, coated in the Canto-style sauce.
