After a period of renovation, SYIP at Farrer Park has officially reopened its doors! The refreshed space has a new food and drink menu offering many memorable dishes.
Homey & Cosy
The cafe now sports a beige-and-white aesthetic complete with rattan and wooden furniture. It felt welcoming, like walking into someone’s home!
It’s warmer compared to their previous concept which was more minimalistic. There are also communal tables for bigger groups.
New SYIP Farrer Park Menu
Other than mainstay items like the Creamy Chicken Scrambled Egg Croissant ($18) and Ikura Kombu Campellini ($19), some of their menu is new!
Savoury options include the Kani Crab Sando ($20), Burrata Bacon French Toast ($22) and Stuffed Wings Rice Bowl ($22).
They also have new desserts like the Matcha French Toast ($16) and Hojicha Black Sesame Tiramisu ($12)!
The new drink menu features a section for foam-topped drinks. Choose from options like the Osmanthus Oolong Matcha Foam ($7), Matcha Seasalt Maple Foam ($7) or Genmaicha Pistachio Foam ($7.50).
Prawn Bisque Risotto
The Prawn Bisque Risotto ($24) was a standout dish for us. The gravy was concentrated with a savoury umami prawn flavour reminiscent of prawn mee!
We think the rice texture could be better but the flavour profiles impressed us. Despite how rich it was, it wasn’t too salty or overbearing and we could comfortably finish the whole plate.
Wagyu Slider Eggs Benedict
The Wagyu Slider Eggs Benedict ($22) featured mini Wagyu beef patties and perfectly runny poached eggs.
The combination of the fattiness of the beef, creamy egg yolk and Hollandaise sauce made for a sinful bite. It can get cloying and we think some spice would help cut through the richness!
Mini Trio Toast
Presented on toasted brioche slices, the Mini Trio Toast ($15) featured three toppings: earl grey kaya, kinako azuki (red bean and butter) and maple mascarpone.
Our favourite was the Earl Grey Kaya. The Earl Grey fragrance was pronounced but didn’t overshadow the familiar coconutty flavour of kaya, and it wasn’t too sweet. We would buy a jar if they sold it (spoiler: they don’t).
Hojicha Black Sesame Tiramisu
The Hojicha Black Sesame Tiramisu ($12) tasted as good as it sounded. It came with a base of hojicha-soaked lady fingers and a black sesame mascarpone.
This had a strong black sesame flavour balanced by bitterness and roasted notes of the hojicha, making it a perfect pairing. It also wasn’t too sweet!
Foam-Topped Drinks
The Maple Espresso Seasalt Foam ($8) had a subtle sweetness but didn’t have a striking maple flavour, so we think it could be more prominent!
We liked the combination of the Strawberry Bergamont Matcha Foam ($7)! It was refreshing with a creaminess and bitterness from the matcha.
Cafe In Farrer Park
SYIP’s new menu presents enticing options perfect for a weekend brunch! With the cosy interior, we think it’s a great option for a gathering with friends.
