We’ve seen an interesting number of Spanish restaurants pop up across Singapore, focusing on tapas: small shareable appetisers designed to go with drinks. When we got news that yet another one was opening – SABòR Cocina Y Tapas – we had our reservations.
The humble tapas restaurant in CHIJMES is helmed by the team behind Italian restaurant Duomo Ristorante, marking their foray into Spanish cuisine.
Cosy Spanish Interior

Located right in front of the CHIJMES Cathedral, Sabor greets you with a noticeable sign admist the green lawn.

The interior is decorated with Spanish flair: bright red, colourful tiles and communal tables designed for intimate gatherings.
There’s also al fresco seating for you to sit and enjoy the sunset; it gets especially pretty at night!
Sabor CHJIMES Menu
The Sabor menu focuses on Spanish tapas, with small but unique twists to the classics.
The tapas selection includes Jamón Serrano Croquettes ($4/piece) and Prawns Al Ajillo ($24), alongside finger foods like the Bikini Sandwich Cheese & Truffle ($18).
Complement the meal with vegetable dishes including Padron Peppers ($16) and Classic Spanish Tortilla ($18) made simply with eggs and onions.
There is a dedicated charcoal grill section with proteins like Grilled Barramundi and Picon Sauce ($34), Grilled Chicken & Sherry Glaze ($32) and Iberico Pork Sliders ($9/pcs).
The quintessential Spanish tapas dish is paella, and Sabor offers a focused menu with Squid Ink & Seafood ($38) and Pork & Scallops ($36). These can comfortably feed 3 people.
Enjoy the food with their selection of cocktails, Spanish wines and beers. Check out the full menu on their website.
What We Tried

The meal started with a plethora of small plates, from the Bikini Sandwich Sobrasada, Honey & Cheese ($18) and the Croquettes ($4/piece) with either Spicy Crab or Jamon.
These finger foods were crisp, salty and incredibly moreish, perfect for drinks!

An unassuming favourite for us was Bread & Tomatoes ($12), with juicy and well-seasoned
tomatoes, perfumed by the floral notes from the quality olive oil they use.

A classic tapas is the Potatoes ‘Bravisimas’ ($16) with aioli and pepper sauce.
The potatoes retained their slight crunch and fluffy centers, perfect carriers for the creamy spicy sauce mix.

Some unique items are the Chicken Wings ‘Dirty Pepe’ ($18) and Spring Onion Tempura with Romesco Sauce ($16).
Inspired by Chef Javier Vicente Rejas’s favourite bar in Madrid, the wings were crunchy, sticky and slightly sweet; an easy starter to the meal.
The tempura also took us by surprise, with the spring onions soft and fragrant but not sharp – thanks to the preparation – and complemented by the kick of Romesco.

While typical paellas are seafood, they offer a Grilled Wagyu A5 MB5 Beef Paella ($48).
The rice was infused with a rich vegetable and beef stock but still retained an al dente bite.
The steak is charcoal-grilled over binchotan to a nice medium rare, making the meal more hearty with the flavourful rice.

Even their Crispy Pork Belly with Green Apple ($36) was well-done! The pork itself was juicy and not gamey, complemented by the refreshing apple salad.

For dessert, get the Crema Catalana with Cookies ($14). Think of it as a “lighter” version of creme brulee with a pudding base and cream top.
Light, creamy and not too sweet, we found ourselves easily finishing the whole thing with no issue! The added lemon zest made this refreshing and balanced out any milkiness.

Their Churros with Chocolate ($12) are a Spanish classic. While we found theirs a bit thin, we liked the crisp outside and chewy inside; rounded off with their rich chocolate sauce.
