A brand-new restaurant has opened on Henderson Road, and if you’re intending to skip most of this article, let me just tell you this first: it’s worth visiting. Revolution is the newest brainchild by the peeps behind RVLT, a popular wine bar that has sadly closed down.
But no, this isn’t RVLT 2.0. Revolution doesn’t want to be known as a wine bar; they’re letting the food here take charge. Why? Because they’re a restaurant and food is of the utmost importance at restaurants.
No worries, you can definitely still enjoy good wine here.
New Restaurant on Henderson Road
Designed in collaboration with Danish design house Fritz Hansen, the space is really aesthetic and offers diners a chance to experience the furniture first-hand.
It’s not the biggest, but it sure does feel cosy.
The restaurant doesn’t serve a specific type of cuisine. There are no labels, but if you wanted a name for it, I would say borderless cuisine, but based on some of the dishes here, there seems to be quite a bit of inspiration from local food as well.
Currently, Revolution is only open for lunch from 11:30am to 3pm but will soon be open for dinner around September or October.
Menu at Revolution
Some favourites from RVLT have made a comeback, such as the Wagyu Beef Patty Melt ($28) with fries and their Signature Chicken Nuggets ($20). The nuggets here are made from scratch in-house, with chicken cartilage bits inside to provide a nice mix of texture. It’s also served with a side of fermented tomato sriracha, a unique twist on your usual nuggets.
I also managed to try the Sourdough Bread ($8), which is a perfect starter for your meal at Revolution. It’s served with whipped seaweed butter, and it’s a very nice familiar burst of umami.
The highlight for lunch at Revolution is undoubtedly their pasta dishes. For now, the menu features 5 locally inspired pastas, such as the Salted Egg Carbonara Spaghetti ($19.80) and Mala-Pesto Mezze Maniche ($19.80).
My personal favourite is the “Hua Diao” Clams Linguine ($19.80), which was slightly creamy but very easy to eat. I can effortlessly finish two servings of this myself, and the clams used were genuinely fresh and plump.
The Chicken Rendang Home-made Ravioli ($19.80) comes a close second with its fragrance capturing hearts immediately the moment it’s being served. There’s a nice crumble on top which is a nice play on textures, highly recommend!
They also have a Black Pepper Wagyu Mini Steak Bucatini ($22.80) which surprisingly feels spicier than the Mala-Pesto pasta, at least to me. The pepperiness of this would definitely appeal to those who love black pepper, and it feels almost like a fusion pasta dish I would get in Taiwan.
They also serve desserts such as Pandan Madeleines ($3) that are baked on the spot, along with a Gula Melaka Parfait Stroopwafel ($6), which seems like a dish inspired by our local ice cream uncle.
Revolution Lunch Set
They do offer a set lunch at $28.80, where you can get your choice of pasta together with a salad or fries, along with a cold beverage (iced tea or lemonade).
After 3 pm until 5 pm, small snacks are available along with cheese selections, which pair well with their wines.
I managed to try some of their dinner items, which are available a la carte or as a set menu. You can expect items like a Chicken Skin Stroopwaffel, Raw Tuna Tacos & more.
It’s definitely not your usual dinner fare, so do keep a lookout for them when dinner service opens in Sept/Oct 2025.
From The Folks of RVLT
There’s no doubt that Revolution Wine Bistro has won our hearts with its food. It definitely made us want to come back for their dinner service when it opens, but for now, if you can, please go and try their pastas and let us know what you think!
