It’s finally happened – Paik’s Noodle is officially open in Singapore! The Korean noodle chain by celebrity chef Baek Jongwon is now in Suntec City with a menu of classic noodle dishes you can try.
Comfortable Seating
Located right by the Fountain of Wealth, Paik’s Noodle has ‘open’ seating and a special open kitchen concept!
The space is quite on theme, with coloured chairs and condiments on the table. Aprons are also available at request for those wearing light colours.
Paik’s Noodle Menu
The menu is focused and lean, only offering classics like Jajang-myeon ($11), Tangsuyuk (from $21) and Jjamppong ($14). Some alternatives include the Jaengban Jajang ($23) made with seafood and the Bokkeum Jjamppong ($17).
There’s also Gochu Yuringji ($23) and Jajang-bap ($13) or Jjamppong-bap ($15) if you prefer rice.
Jajang-myeon
On first glance, the Jajang-myeon ($11) looked the part. There was a good amount of sauce atop noodles, which looked fresh/handmade.
We liked this iteration! The sauce was savoury and enjoyable smokeiness, coating the chewy noodles well. We think it could do with more depth and body of flavour, maybe with more meat. Nevertheless, a solid bowl of Jajangmyeon!
Jjamppong
The Jjamppong ($14) came with a generous amount of seafood in a bright red broth and the same chewy noodles. It had the just right kick of spice to tickle the back of the throat but not too overwhelm, which we liked.
Just like the Jajang-myeon, we think think it could do with more prominent seafood flavour for an all-rounded taste.
Tangsuyuk
A highlight for us was the Tangsuyuk (from $21). It came with the sauce poured over, which might not suit you if you prefer to dip your meat.
However, the meat pieces were well-seasoned with an enjoyable crust! The sauce wasn’t too sweet or sour and paired well with the meat.
Jajangmyeon In Suntec City
All in all, Paik’s Noodle gave us a favourable first impression with their Jajangmyeon, though it could do with a more impactful flavour. We think it’s worth a try if you’re looking to satisfy your cravings!
