Monarchs & Milkweed is an artisanal gelato shop with a loyal fan base, and with good reason.
After a 5-year run at their previous location in a shophouse along North Bridge, they’ve just reopened at Jewel Changi!
Cosy & Inviting Interior
Perched on level 4, the store is brightened by the natural sunlight streaming in from the roof.
The gentle rays of sunlight highlight the soft, curved interiors and light-toned furniture, creating a cosy and inviting atmosphere.
Monarchs & Milkweed Menu
With 20 flavours to choose from, you’re definitely spoilt for choice.
A single scoop starts at $5.90 and a double scoop at $11. Premium flavours are a $1 top up per scoop.
We sampled their signatures, including the Ispahan, Brown Butter Sage, and Cookie Butter Crunch.
They were all smooth and their natural flavours really came through!
The Brown Butter Sage was a standout with a unique but subtle herb note, and we can totally understand why it has a fanbase of its own!
There were also other flavours such as Tiramisu, Soursop Mint Sorbet, and Goma, so there’s definitely something for everyone.
We first tried the Mango Coconut ($5.90) on a cone (additional $1.50).
We loved that both the mango and coconut flavours were prominent, and not overpowered by just one.
The hint of thyme from the cone paired well with the gelato, elevating the dessert.
We also tried a double scoop ($11) of Citrus Pistachio Swirl ($6.90) and Cremino ($6.90) on a waffle ($6.80).
The waffles were done perfectly, with a crisp exterior and soft interior.
The Citrus Pistachio Swirl is a twist on the classic nutty favourite, with the citrus complementing and enhancing the nutty notes of pistachio.
The Cremino combines hazelnut gelato with chocolate and feuilletine cream for a rich, nutty flavour. It’s basically Kinder Bueno in gelato form!
Each bite is indulgent and well-balanced with a nice light crunch that contrasts the gelato’s smooth texture.
Artisanal Gelato In Changi
Monarchs & Milkweed’s reopening at Jewel Changi marks a fresh chapter for the beloved gelato brand. Whether you’re a longtime fan or a first-time visitor, it’s definitely a spot you’ll want to visit for quality gelato!
