A must-try dish when you visit Hong Kong is wonton noodles, and the must-try restaurant for this is Mak Man Kee Wonton Noodle! The 70-year-old eatery has been on the Michelin Guide for 7 years, with it making its first overseas move to Singapore.
You can now enjoy this iconic bowl of noodles at Joy Luck Teahouse, their new outlet at Causeway Point.
Famous Hong Kong Wonton Mee

For the uninitiated, Mak Man Kee Wonton Noodle is the most well-known HK wonton mee restaurant.
It’s been around since the 1940s, bringing famous patrons like Charmaine Sheh and Dicky Cheung for a taste.
This partnership in Singapore is their first venture out of Hong Kong!
Two of their iconic dishes – HK Wonton Noodle – Mak Man Kee and Zha Jiang Mian – will be available at Joy Luck Teahouse Causeway Point.
These are permanent additions to the menu, so you can enjoy them anytime!
The HK Wonton Noodle is available dry or soup, with options for Prawn W0nton ($9.80) or Prawn & Chicken Wonton ($8.80).
It’s served simply with a clear broth, the classic wonton noodles and well-stuffed wontons. As someone who had it in the actual restaurant in Hong Kong, I’d say this was 95% similar!
The flavour is clean with a slight sweetness from the soup, and the noodles had a nice bounce without an overbearing alkaline taste.
I also liked the wontons, bouncy and meaty with soft skin.
On the other hand, I couldn’t appreciate the Zha Jiang Mian ($8.80). The gravy was made with a sweet, ginger-forward sauce instead of the usual savoury bean paste, and it was a bit confusing.
Another iconic Hong Kong dish available at Joy Luck Teahouse is the Clear Beef Soup ($13.80).
It’s from Zheng Ji Teochew Beef Noodle, another mainstay name in the Hong Kong food scene. This was enjoyable, with a light beefy broth and chunks of tender beef!
If you like tendon, you can get an add-on for $2.
