Opened by Koreans, Jeonpo Meat Shop has quite a bit of history. It originally started as a KBBQ store in Jeonpo-dong, Busan. Its original name is actually 육짚 (Yook Zoup). After expanding to Hong Kong as Jeonpo Meat Shop, they closed down the store in Busan.

This Jeonpo Meat Shop outlet in Singapore is the restaurant’s eighth and the first in Southeast Asia! There are 7 outlets in Hong Kong.
KBBQ Restaurant in Telok Ayer
The restaurant is located within the iconic Telok Ayer neighbourhood, and joins popular Korean dining establishments like Daily Beer, GAMTAN and SOT. While the restaurant is located near the CBD, it gives off very local neighbourhood kbbq spot vibes, like the ones you find in Korea.
You can try spotting a few interior elements that really make the place look like Korea, like the specially designed street sign near the restaurant’s entrance. It also has a mini alfresco seating area that reminds us of restaurants in Euljiro-3-ga.
Of course, you have chairs that open up as storage space to complete the whole “dining in Korea” experience.
Jeonpo Meat Shop Menu
For lunch, they serve a menu of noodles such as Pork Bone Spicy Noodles ($20), Yukgaejang Noodles ($19) and Buckwheat Noodles with Pollock Roe and Perilla Oil ($22). They also have soup options that come with rice, such as Kimchi Stew ($16), Beef Brisket Doenjang Jjigae ($16) and more.
However, the star here is definitely their dinner menu, which is when they offer grilled meats – the thing they’re known for, as suggested by the name of the restaurant.
You have the typical pork belly (180g for $29), Pork collar (180g for $29), and Chagolbagi, which is thinly sliced beef brisket (180g for $38). You’ll also find sets that combine various cuts of pork and beef, ranging from $83 to $240.
Jeonpo Meat Shop Review
We tried the Flower-Cut Pork Belly (180g for $28) and Flower-Cut Pork Neck (180g for $28), which are thinly sliced versions of the usual meat cut. They are grilled over a simple fire, no charcoal or anything here, and cook really fast.
Honestly, the good thing is you can just cook it by yourself cause it’s so easy.
They come with a whole set of banchan, including salads, lettuce wraps, marinated quail eggs, and more.
The staff grills everything for you, starting with the first round of meats grilled alongside some spring onions and leeks. Pairing those with your meat is enjoyable, as they provide a nice crunch and balance the greasiness.
There’s also a secret option of grilling your meats with kimchi and jjapaghetti (or it might be jjapaguri – I get confused). The noodles aren’t on the dinner menu, but if you ask nicely, they will give it to you for free! It’s a known fact that combining grilled meat with kimchi is delicious, but when you pair it with grilled jjapaghetti, it tastes even better!
Some sides we tried also included a Steamed Egg ($10) which was slightly burnt on the bottom for us, not the best. However, their Bibim Naengmyeon ($16) is worth a try, presented beautifully with lots of vegetables, sauce and frozen broth.
They also serve Woodae Galbi ($88), which has been all the rage in Singapore recently. The one here is slightly more marinated, so you can taste a certain sweetness that might not be everyone’s cup of tea.
Their Fried Rice ($14) is a must-get here, and they asked if we wanted a SpongeBob or Doraemon drawing for it. We’ll let you decide what design to get, but it was a great way to end the meal.
Authentic Korean Vibes in Singapore
Jeonpo Meat Shop is a nice addition to the Telok Ayer neighbourhood, offering an authentic, down-to-earth experience of Korea right here in Singapore. One tip for you, make sure to be prepared to walk away smelling like bbq as we didn’t spot any vents in the restaurant. But then again, that’s what you get if you step into a local kbbq spot in Korea anyway right? 😉
