When it comes to charcoal K-BBQ in Singapore, Hanjip Korean Grill House is a name that comes to mind!
The Korean barbecue restaurant in Clarke Quay has been serving premium cuts since its opening in 2020, and now it is revitalising its menu with new meats and à la carte dishes.
K-BBQ With Private Room
The space features a sleek, black-and-gold-themed interior, complemented by themed private rooms.
They offer seven different Korean-inspired spaces, ranging from a Joseon Crane-decorated to a Hallasan-themed one.
These rooms are smoke-free as they use portable stoves and are great for intimate gatherings! Minimum spend begins at $788++ per room, depending on the room type.
Something we liked was how there wasn’t that lingering smoke smell on our clothes despite the grilling.
New Hanjip Korean Grill House Menu Items
The menu features a variety of barbecue meat platters, as well as sides like Seafood Pancake ($25), Fried Chicken ($30/half), and Kimchi Jiggae with Pork ($26).
They have refreshed their offerings to include more premium meat cuts and a la carte dishes.
Another exciting new addition is their lunch menu, with items like a Pork Bulgogi Bowl ($$25) and Kimchi Fried Rice ($21) (more on that later).
They have an Executive Lunch menu available from Monday to Friday (12 pm-2.30 pm) with a 20% discount!
Items start at only $16.80++ and include barley tea and side dishes, making it a value-for-money meal option.
Dishes include hearty Spicy Seafood Noodle ($20.80 with discount) and Spicy Stir-fried Pork ($24 with discount) with rice.

Charcoal K-BBQ Meat Cuts
Their barbecue meat menu offers over 10 premium options, ranging from Australian Wagyu Striploin ($88/200g) to Marinated Pork Collar ($38/150g)
Two new premium options are the A5 Wagyu Ribeye ($98/100g), Japanese A5 Wagyu Ribeye Cap (limited quantity available) ($78/80g) from Kagoshima, Japan and Australia MS6 Wagyu Oyster Blade ($98/100g).
Everything is served in style with a cloud of dried ice smoke. The meat quality was apparent, with clear marbling and an appetising rich colour.
The attentive staff will grill and cut everything, which we really appreciated. They will ask for the doneness of your meat before cooking!
Nothing beats meat grilled over a charcoal fire, and the A5 Japanese Wagyu Ribeye took the cake for us.
It had a perfectly charred outside and juicy centre, with a clean finish.
The Oyster Blade is a thin cut but has a beefier flavour!

If you’re coming in groups, the Hanjip Platter ($198/650g) is a good option with four cuts: USDA Prime Ribeye, USDA Prime Boneless Short Rib, Kurobuta Pork Belly and Marinated Pork Collar.
Our favourite was the Marinated Pork Collar, which was melt-in-the-mouth tender with a nice caramelisation from the grill!
A La Carte Dishes
There are also additions to the a la carte dishes, including a refreshing Hamachi Carpaccio ($30) with a tangy dressing!
Korean barbecue isn’t complete without a stew, so we recommend the Spicy Handmade Tofu Stew ($28) or even the Korean Ginseng Chicken Soup ($38).
A unique choice would be the punchy Spicy Pollock Roe Stew ($28). Despite the interesting visuals, the roe has a taste and texture similar to fish balls, with a sweetness and firmness.
All three items are available all day, making for good lunch options!
Bonus: New Lunch Menu
Hanjip has expanded its lunch special menu with hearty new items like a Korean Abalone Pot Rice ($35)!
Served on a sizzling stone bowl, it was topped with soy-braised grilled abalone and abalone liver paste, which added a rich umami to the rice.
But our pick has to be the Wagyu Beef Pot Rice ($36). The mixture of fatty grilled beef cubes, ikura and vegetables made for a hearty bite.
The portion sizes are generous and can even be comfortably shared between two people.
If you prefer soup, try the Busan-Style Pork Bone Rice Soup ($25), which was packed with meat.
The broth is milky, light but rich, creating a comforting flavour that warms the stomach.
Bingsu Shaved Ice
No K-BBQ meal is complete without dessert like Bingsu Shaved Ice ($20)!
We had it in Mango, complete with mango-flavoured ice and fresh mango cubes. Sweet, creamy and refreshing, this was the perfect finish to the meal!
