Located in One Holland Village, Ginkyo by Kinki has a laid-back ambience compared to its sister establishment, offering an elevated dining experience that playfully mixes authentic flavours with modern creativity.
Bright & Elegant Interior
Inspired by Tokyo’s Icho Matsuri ‘Ginkgo Festival’, the restaurant radiates elegance and luxury with its gold-themed decor, from lighting fixtures to tables, complemented by golden hues of ginkgo leaves adorning the interior.
The furnishings showcase yukata-inspired designs, perfectly tying in with the restaurant’s Japanese theme. Natural light floods the space through ceiling-to-floor windows, creating a bright, lively atmosphere!
Ginkyo by Kinki Menu
The menu features delights like yakitori sticks and unique ‘baos’, including the Karage Fried Chicken Bao ($20) and Piman Nikuzume ($22) – chicken wrapped in bell peppers. Fans of Kinki, its sister company, will recognise popular sushi rolls such as the AC/DC Dynamite ($20) and Dragon Chaser ($28).
For a heartier option, try the Unagi Claypot ($32) or the Best of Toyosu Market ($52) dish, which includes a selection of seafood from Toyosu Market, complemented with luxurious additions like caviar and truffle.
Small Bites
The Uni, Caviar, Ikura Ginkyo Crispies ($22) delivers a burst of flavour in just one bite, combining fresh Japanese seafood such as negitoro.
We also tried the Kimchi Onigiri Arancini ($14), which turned out to be one of our favourites! The kimchi rice was deep-fried for a delightful crunch, complemented by rich gorgonzola filling. Topped with kimchi aioli, it adds a spicy kick that enhances the dish’s flavour profile.
For those preferring something lighter but still flavourful, the Swordfish Ceviche ($19) is a great choice and another favourite of ours. It combines savoury, spicy salsa with thick cuts of swordfish to be enjoyed with the rice crackers!
The Truffle Fat Wings ($19) are chicken wings generously filled with truffle rice. While enjoyable, we found ourselves wishing for a more pronounced truffle flavour.
Mains
The Okonomi-Rosti ($28) puts a unique spin on classic okonomiyaki, using shredded potatoes as its base. Topped with ingredients like cabbage and bacon, and drizzled with mentaiko sauce, this well-executed dish delighted us with its harmonious flavours.
The Hamburg Wagyu ($34), presented on a sizzling hotplate, allows the rice at the edges to crisp up, adding a delightful roasted flavour and texture. The highlight is the A4 Wagyu which has a rich flavour. For the best experience, mix the rice thoroughly with the poured eggs, coating each grain well.
Kyoto Sour Cocktail
We tried the Kyoto Sour ($18), which had a sake base. Its subtle alcohol taste makes it an excellent option for those who favour a less intense drink.
Breezy Alfresco Area
With high bar tables and cosy lounge seats, Ginkyo by Kinki offers an ideal casual dining experience for weekend gatherings!
